UM vs EWU Score Predictions

I don't like to pick scores, but I'm usually pretty good at figuring out how styles impact the game.
With VA in and at least somewhat healthy, I don't think Griz pressure causes too many problems and the Eagles are much better vertically than with West. With West in, the Eagles aren't much of a downfield threat and will allow Montana to stack the box and throw odd-man rushes forward every play. West will need additional blocker with him at all times as he struggles with pressure. The Eagle running game will get some yards either way, but not enough to ring up a ton of points.
I know Montana's offense has figured all the ways to inflict pain on the Eagle D, so I expect a lot of misdirection. The Eagle D will struggle with it and give up some points. If JJ can find success downfield against a struggling secondary, the Montana offense might see their best outing of the year. Unfortunately for UM, I don't think JJ has an ability to do it.
With West in, I'd make the Griz a very slight favorite... With Vernon in, I'd make Eastern a double-digit fave.

Do you really believe your QB and receivers do a good job in vertical routes? I've seen a handful of Griz games this year and haven't seen it. That's not to say it never happens, but I'm not seeing the type of deep threat for long yardage that Eastern poses with VA. The numbers seem to bear that out. That said, he could look a lot better against an Eagle D that has looked rotten in a few outings this year.
As an Eastern fan, I'm more worried about what he does with his feet than what he does with his arm...

There's two sides to that one, Homey. Eastern's defense has looked shocking in several games. Montana has made a pretty good recent history of moving the ball on Eastern. I suspect the Griz will put up some points on Saturday. Eastern's D has looked pretty good for a few weeks running, but they haven't played against a team that'll zone read 'em... whichhas been the Eagle D kryptonite for many years running.

I have great memories of playing the grizz. One of my best games was against them. And I loved playing at WaGrizz. We are just better than you now.
Why would I want to suppress that? Sorry things didn't turn out that hot for you and you have to live vicariously through a team you (presumably?) never played for.

I feel like the Griz have a quiet confidence going into this one and will keep their emotions in check...Lots of heartache on that red turf, time to turn it around.
