I also believe people find engineering extremely profitable nowadays. However, UM is still going to be the state leader for academics. This is a temporary lull. I think we will be seeing the resurgence in enrollement come next fall. UM is world class. Not only that, but the campus, the professors, and the environment are 10 times superior to Bozeman. No offense to them. The drop in enrollment is not a result of Engstrom being president in any way...that's just foolish talk.
Royce?
UM is not world class.. the latest Forbes rankings have UM listed pretty pathetically. I think it was listed as 400+ in academic ranking. That's not much ahead of Boise State, a trucker college. MSU was far ahead of UM, if memory serves correct. UM turns out too many senseless degrees where there is zero employment opportunities. MSU and Tech are kicking UMs ass in putting people in jobs, especially keeping kids in-state.
^^ This ^^ Wasn't gonna say anything, means more when coming from a griz fan!
