UM Griz vs. E. Wash BSC Tourney Semi Final

Time to retool the offense, no spacing as someone pointed out last night. Ewoo knows it cold, 2 or 3 decent shots in 30 minutes. Yikes. Mack coming into his own is a plus, just need to get him some help.

Well I’ll be honest, I think all of Griz Nation, the coaches and players are happy this roller coaster season is over. I will say this though, there will never be another season under Decuire that will be this bad ever again. That I will guarantee you.

There is major work to be done this off-season. It starts with recruiting and currently have 6 roster spots (and maybe more) at their disposal. We got to get bigger. We need to bring in at least 2 big guys IMO to help bolster this roster. We need a game changer too, somebody who can take over this team when need be.

It’s time to make major changes to the offense. We need a new identity, and this team has to put in the work this summer.

We will get this figured out. I just hope we can do it by next year!

Yep, the design of this offense is flawed. Throughout the season, the games in which Montana has played well on offense are those where their guards are able to penetrate. But there were too many games where that ability was taken from them, and you see the result tonight!

An inside-outside offense struggles when you have no bigs that can adequately run the offense.

If I was coaching this collection of guards and wing players, with little inside game presence, I would full-court press from the opening tip, and play to chaos. If the Griz had done that tonight, it might have been a totally different outcome. EWU does not have have quick guards, and those big bodies would not be very effective in a press situation.

Then why run this offense if you don't have the players to run it? You design an offense to fit your personnel

They tried to adjust it to a dribble drive offense but they never ever figured out the spacing. I don't know how many times the ball was pushed out and the spacing was so poor that 1 defender could guard 2 guys.

I have never heard of a dribble-drive offense. To me, that is just a one-on-one thing after a team can not get a good look from running their offense.
