Take that and ride off on your high horse.

Damn fine work.

Many more than I thought. I’m saddled and riding.

Carson Baker who entered portal earlier (Oct), is being followed by both Green and TR. Was at San Diego State before transferring to West KY last year. Of course their follows could be from 2020 also - not current.
Ooh that’d be a nice get. He’s got starting experience and his numbers look nice. Seems like he actually played a bit at SDSU but never saw the field at WKU. I’d take this kid.

Wonder if any of these San Diego db’s that were burned have last name Hauck. He is another that doesn’t post much on Twitter. Just speculation….shades of Dalton, with a nice arm.

This is who he sat behind:

Bailey Zappe is living a dream in 2021. With the Conference USA title game on the horizon, the Western Kentucky senior quarterback leads the country in passing touchdowns (52), passing yards (4,941) and yards per game (414). With a title game and a bowl game yet to play, Zappe is close to breaking two of college football’s most impressive records: Joe Burrow’s 60 touchdown passes and B.J. Symons’ 5,833 passing yards.

And yet, it’s just his first year of FBS football.

“Not many people down in the Victoria (Texas) area where I’m from get to go play at the Division I level,” Zappe told PFF. “I’d say both the NFL and college were a dream for me. I grew up watching football. My team was USC, so when I was young, I was watching Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and those guys. I would say it was a dream.”

Kid can flat out sling it.

Ya Zappe’s a hell of a talent. Brought in multiple guys to compete for the job and he ran away with it. Surprised Baker didn’t get more mop up duty. Looks like he only attempted one pass at WKU. I think he’d be a nice fit at UM.

I was surprised at the number that dropped down to FCS. We don’t know the circumstances such as were they unable to find a team in FBS?

Well it’s like I said yesterday, with the amount of guys in the portal, there’s not enough scholarships or roster spots for all of them to stay FBS. These FBS programs bring in transfers from FCS looking to move up, and most of them like to bring in bigger signing classes of Freshmen. If they wanna play, they’re gonna have to drop down.

Making assumptions that they couldn't find a team at the FBS level. Spanky maintaining his narrative that no one would transfer to FCS unless they had to, but sometimes they want to based on their circumstances. Kids transfer for a variety of reasons.

This was in the article from when he left SDSU….sounds like he’s more Gustafson than Sneed….not that there’s anything wrong with that, but he doesn’t sound like a “runner”, which Sneed definitely was.

“After the season, we had meetings with our position coach (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Jeff Hecklinski),” Baker said by phone Monday evening. “Basically, it seems like they’re moving the offense into a dual-threat system. They were up front about that. That was a factor in the decision (to leave).

Baker, who was 59-of-104 passing on the season for 617 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions, is a pro set quarterback with some running ability.

It’s good that Helena will continue to share his vast knowledge about football. Most people understand that players transfer for a number of reasons, but thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Well he continues to dispel YOUR ridiculous notion that players ONLY transfer down if they can’t find an FBS team that’ll take them.

Yes, I do believe that ridiculous notion to be true, with some exceptions.

Well, you’ve admitted its ridiculous….baby steps…baby steps…

I think Spanky is throwing out a blanket statement about FBS players entering the portal that is only partial truth. I see FBS guys as falling into 3 categories, guys that will go FBS (top group) , those that will go FCS (bottom group), and those that will garner offers from both levels and go either way (middle group). As a FCS school, you hope to hit the middle group with some success and pull specific kids from the bottom group that you see fitting your needs.
