UM @ Cal Davis Game Thread

OMG, in other games, Nebraska is about to lose to Illinois. Husker Nation will go bat shit crazy if they lose to Illinois. Stitt makes a huge impact with MT and Huskers come up short the next 3 to 4 years, Stitt could have his dream job.

All the Chalich "wait and see" people make me laugh. How many overthrows and underthrows, blown reads, happy feet, and bad decisions do you need to see that he is not the answer here? Griz are ahead by the grace of the D.

Who is the answer PDX?

They have nothing to lose by reaching further into the depth chart. I realize there is a lack of game experience, but the product on the field looks very inexperienced as well. Chalich is playing hard and with heart, but his errors (without the WRs helping) are keeping this close. In my opinion, it would behoove Stitt to try something new. It's not all on Chalich, but for how integral the QB is in this offense, his errors are compounded quite a bit.
I'm not a sky is falling type of guy...but I agree :| :

In that scenario (NB hires him), I assume he's won a couple of championships for the Griz. If that's the case, you couldn't begrudge a Nebraska boy wanting to go home!

He does have a lot of work to do at Montana, 1st. Got to admit, that would be awesome for any coach who is from Nebraska. :thumb:

And I'd be the first to congratulate him!

As much as I complain during games, I don't think that the sky is falling. Chalich had a good game statistically, but if he was on target, then this game would have been monster. This offense is set up for QBs to have monster numbers. It opens the run game and places all sorts of pressure on the D when a QB is executing at a reasonable level. However, since NDSU it hasn't. Thats why I think making a trip down the depth chart is a good idea. We have athletes and good (at least on paper) QBs. Let's see if one of them can make the team gel. It's clear that Chalich, while playing his heart out (any QB that goes head first for a 1st down is cool in my book), is not sparking this offense.

I would agree to some extent, but it seems that Stitt isn't the type to bail on a guy quickly. I think Chalich would have to play badly and lose a couple in a row before he'd lose his job. Also, Chalich does spark the offense at times with his running. But wow, if he could be just a little more accurate...

Really. Do we switch #1 QB every week or so?
Would it matter?

It is hard to put up 20 points on this defense. This one damn fine defense. 2-0 to start conference play. Good job boys.

What do you mean? Their average points per game was 25.....

That's what I'm saying....The Griz D gives up 25 points per game on average. How can it be difficult to put up 20 points when their average points per game is 25?

CV was right....the defense had given up 100 points in first 4 games (25 point per game) but the last two only 14 and 13 so now the average is down to 22 pts per game. Moving in the right direction for sure. Plus we played some tough teams that can put up points early so it should keep improving IMO

I see what you're saying. I misinterpreted your post. On the flip side though, we've only allowed more than 20 points in two games...so far

Right now, it is difficult to score 20 points against the GRIZ defense. The GRIZ offense gave up the 1st 3 points by not converting on 4th down in GRIZ territory. This defense makes it difficult for offenses to remain consistent. They are not giving up many long drives of late. I love this defense and am impressed by it.
