all eyes, of course, on our beloved joslyn (3 points, two rebounds, two assists, a block, 1-4 from downtown, in 12 minutes), but what a stunning display of ineptness on a national stage for women's basketball--especially after the men delivered such a classic game in their final. uconn's dismal first half masked the fact stanford basically had two bad halves, butchering layups and clanging jumpers that grade school kids could make. did a skunk get into the ventilation system at the alamo dome? this was a stinkeroo, almost unwatchable for the better part. tinkle probably launched more threes than her coach might have wanted, but she plays with incredible poise for a true freshman. she was actually far more effective than the all-american, jayne appel--almost helpless with an ankle injury.
you couldn't watch that game and not dream a bit--carla selvig has a growth spurt like her brother and winds up at 6'4", sullivan and nelson turn out to be stars, baker makes a great recovery from her injury, deboer blossoms as a sophomore...the season's over, dreams of next year.
