One of Engstroms first moves was to change scale back back Foley’s broad authority under Dennison as Executive Vice President down to Vice President of External Communications. Sounds like a demotion to me. At least its one the faculty is happy about....

Its been all over and was even reffered to in the Barz report (and arguably part of the decision to have the independent investigation) or that the matter hasn't been discussed in the minute of several reagents meetings. Don't know why Lacroix quit (and didn't say I did) but the timing was interesting and out of the blue and less than a week after the office was defending their civil rights record to of all people Dusty Deschamps But if she thinks she will have more time for her dogs and family while trying to establish a private practice, thats rather naive.

It says "Crime is under-reported at every level", including on "college campuses". "Steve Janosik, a Clery Act expert and professor at Virginia Tech, said that although crime is under-reported at every level — on college campuses and on state and federal levels — more people reporting crime leads to a better picture of safety on campus. If there were incredibly violations the reporting, the DOE would have acted sooner. These DOE investigations are routine. Note that UM has been over-reporting some crimes.

Thank you for the timeline correction on the County Attorneys Office time line. I didn't realize their negative civil rights record was documented that far back. I just assumed it was recent. I guess senility runs the years together. It certainly helps explain the DOJs interest.

You don't know the half of it pal. If you don't think Holder and the Chicago mafia around Obama would use this to further their cause you are naive beyond help. These people are as ruthless as Karl Rove, James Carville or Lee Atwater and I think this is where uber partisan politics has left us.

They are throwing Engen under the bus, the one Missoula D that would have a chance in a statewide election down the road. Don't you find it the least bit interesting that this is going down in a state where their campaign is DOA.

When the nature of some of the cases that will be "investigated" come out you will know what I'm talking about.

Clearly there are problems better dealt with by the Federal Government than local authorities. An example would the systematic violation of voting rights in some southern states. The local authorities were the problem and the DOJ successfully worked to ensure that nobody's rights were taken away.

I don't really see what the problem is with the DOJ investigation. A citizen complained that her civil rights were violated, the DOJ is thus obligated to investigate. If there isn't really a problem, then the outcome of the investigation should be benign. If there is a problem, some action is required. Seems reasonable to me.
