If he doesn't win defensive player of the week I will be shocked!

Holmes has 9 sacks in 4 games, incredible!

Edited on the correction to the correction.

Amazing performance in this game and for the year by Holmes!! I still need to watch the game on DVR, but his last sack at the end of the 1st half was a brilliant play call by Gregorak. Pre snap, Gregorak lined Holmes up as an OLB. I noticed this and told the guy next to me, Ty is putting him in position for another sack or to cause some confusion. Just before the snap, Holmes shifted more toward his natural DE position. I am not sure how many times in the game Gregorak shifted Holmes around, but I do have a feeling it might be a sign of things to come. Holmes just might be a player that can be used in different ways to utilize best match ups. The guy just may see himself as a combo DE/OLB at the next level. Either way, I enjoy watching Holmes bring agony and horror to opposing offenses.

What impresses me most is his strength. A lot of DEs will rush fast, really fast but are rather easily deflected wide and end up being too deep which opens up a whole bunch of stuff for the offense. TH drives into the OT and shoves him right into the QB. It destroys the pocket and the play. Often while doing this he reaches out and is able to grab the QB while still fighting off the tackle. Really amazing. The Griz have obviously had a lot of good DEs but none ever like TH.

These stats came up against some of the best teams in the country! We call him Interstate 91 or I 91 for short in our house. He is the best defensive player in the conference.

Holmes is an animal... I would be shocked to not see him in the NFL next year.

I thought I saw that shift not work once, leaving a big hole for the RB to hit. However, without a doubt the rush was really well coached, D was pretty much brilliant, Holmes was brilliant. I bet Cookus was having Tyrone Holmes nightmares lat night! Really glad to see him get POG. Ironically (given the HC's reputation) so far, it looks like the D is going to carry the team. Need to get better on defending the big play receivers though.

Big play receivers are big play receivers for a reason. Unless you have a corner on the level of Tru Johnson, they're going to get their yards.

Wish he would be back next season for his RS-SR year, but since he didn't red-shirt, he will have to settle for his true freshman impact instead of what would have been an All-American RS-SR year. I am glad all of this years class of true freshman are red-shirting, allowing them to be fully developed 5th-year Seniors.

2014: He was UM’s seventh leading returning tackler. Holmes had 66 total tackles along with 14 TFLs and 7.5 sacks. He also had two forced fumbles and four quarterback hurries. He was named to the Big Sky Conference’s all-conference football team as an honorable mention on defense and earned Big Sky academic honors for the fall semester.

2013: He started all 13 games and was the Grizzlies’ 13th leading tackler with 37 stops. He was third (tie) on the team with four sacks, and tied for fourth in tackles for loss with six. He was an honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference pick. He was named to the league’s all-academic team for the second season in a row.

2012: He played in all 11 games and started in one (Liberty) as a true freshman. He was third on the team with 5.0 sacks, and 15th in total tackles with 24.
