Truth Hurts

PlayerRep said:
Could someone explain the initial post to me? What is the truth? That UM has all this great talent, or that UM doesn't have the best players at every position, or everyone not on this list (at other schools and UM) is just a placeholder?

Which of these things is supposed to hurt?

Or is this just supposed to stir the pot a bit, and who cares what was meant?[/quote]

I don't think Northern Colorado would trade Bumpas.
I don't think NAU would trade Bauman.
Shaw was 6th in punting in the conference last year... and Wilder from NAU (#1) is back.
JJ would start for everyone except for maybe MSU and Sac.
Van hasn't played a down yet.

Othern than that, I wouldn't argue too much. I'd be lying if I said most of those guys wouldn't start at MSU, but it's all hearsay. JJ wouldn't this year, Van wouldn't this year, Shaw wouldn't this year, Kidder probably wouldn't. I'd take your LBs on that list and the OL though if you're just giving them away. :)

Are you fu-king kidding me? Take a look at your front and tell me Kidder wouldn't start. That was a serious reach friend.

I don't think your QB would start of Lobato and I don't think I would take your LB over Bumpas. They're close, but I wouldn't start any of those players over what those two UNC Bears.
I would take Bumpas over anybody in the conference.

Lobato? Did the wind switch and push that green cloud over Boulder into Greeley?

So we're supposed to argue that the upperclassmen (which is basically your list) are better right now than most of the other players, or something to that effect? Brilliant...

and also that the true freshmen we have brought in and haven't had time to grow, learn the system, and establish themselves aren't as good and don't make the list? Again, what a thinker.

And Alpha's internet groupies get off on agreeing. What's to agree on? The premise makes little sense. Isn't there a season starting where about a whole bunch of guys get to go out and prove themselves, have breakout years, get injured...? Try and play as a team? Your world is black and white...your prognostications are generally obvious and poorly stated. Get better.

Kidder is damn good but at 6'5 260, that is pretty big and thin for a DT. He may have more upside but he is young and needs to put on some weight, IMO.

Cats will be running a 3 man rotation at DT. We don't need any more undersized athletic DTs, I'd rather take Bienemann over Kidder.

:o

FWIW I agree with you regarding Bumpus. But no WAY is Lobato JJ's equal.

I say they are close and in a way they're two different styles of QB. Lobato has stronger arm, bigger frame and is getting better with his accuracy. He always has slow starts and I think it's because he's always had to change OC's and systems. This year is different. For the first time in his college career he will have the same OC/QB coach for consecutive seasons. That should help him get off to a better start.

These are guys that would start on any other team in the BSC, the rest of the players are placeholders.

You might want to add Henderson and Kanongata'a to that list.

I would add Kanongata'a and maybe Holmes.

I would also add Tonga to that list.

Alpha is a fire starter! Dont hold a grudge when you get called out. ADD Kanongata'a, Henderson & Holmes.

Wow, man. First off, Kidder hasn't seen 260 in awhile. I see that is what the roster has him listed at, but is old. Secondly, if you saw Bienemann and Kidder standing next to eachother you would laugh at your own comment.

Well I just go by what the roster says. Kidder didn't play a ton last year, and is listed at 6'5 260. Contrary to popular belief, not all Cat fans who visit this board know every single detail about the Griz. I haven't read a single news story about the Griz this year, just some reports here and there on e-Griz. If you guys think he is going to be a stud, good for you, and good for him.

Just like I'm guessing most Griz fans don't know everything about the Cats either. You don't know how Dees or Sheridan will play this year, or that Connor Thomas is likely to work himself into the rotation at some point too because I think he is that talented.

I'm confused.

Only on eGriz can a guy read two full pages of a thread and not be able to figure out if it's a pro-Griz thread, or not. :?

this is nothing. i'm WAY more impressed that a thread here regarding forest fires can still manage to turn into pissing matches involving lawyers and politics. :o

great stuff as always. :thumb:

Lets not act like "working your way into the rotation" for the Cats means your a stud. SEC schools yes. For MSU? all that tells me is hes not good enough to start, but I'm sure hes part of this AMAZING DEPTH kitty fans have been raving about.

Yeah, I stopped reading that one when it went off the rails. But like you, I shouldn't be surprised by anything on here anymore.

And if we're being honest that was about 5 posts into it.

I should just move on, but here goes anyway.

I happen to know quite a bit about the Cats defensive front. I don’t know how to post a link to the thread, but go back and read my comments on your defensive line in one of the Walberg position “analysis” threads. Don’t paint all Griz with the same brush my friend.

Caleb Kidder would start for MSU, period, end of story. MSU wanted this kid badly, and told him he would have a shot to start as a true freshman.

He rotated in here as a true freshman, out of necessity. He’s put on some major bulk this year and is going to be a handful.

You said you would rather have Bienemann than Kidder on the basis of not wanted another “undersized defensive lineman.” That is insane. Please put a pin in that thought for when you see them in person.
