Trumaine Johnson

Tru may end up having the best professional career of any Grizzly non-lineman player in the NFL, ever. But Mariani has also done very well. Tru was a star from when he was recruited and came to Missoula with a full ride. Mariani was a walk-on from the Hi-Line who earned a scholarship and became a star. Why compare? Enjoy the success of both.

No one is saying Mariani isn't a success. Comparing just because it was fun and it's kinda funny to hear ag talk about carpenter being the best griz in the nfl when it's so clearly tru

I did not realize you were referring to a Confederate flag-bearer, or I would have ignored it all. My bad.

Calvin just got his first catch but it was into zone coverage and Calvin went to the middle of the field away from tru

Hell of a game by Tru. Last time Calvin was held to only 1 catch was October 4th of the 2014 season, and from the looks of it (he didn't play for another month) that might have been because he was injured and didn't finish the game. Before that the last time he was held to 1 catch was in the 2010 season.

From this writeup on the game:

CB Trumaine Johnson: In returning from a thigh injury he suffered against Baltimore three weeks ago, Johnson had the task of shadowing Lions receiver Calvin Johnson all day. Johnson did it as well as any corner has since Johnson came into the league. Calvin Johnson finished with just one catch for 16 yards and Trumaine Johnson sent the ultimate exclamation point with an interception he returned 58 yards for the game's first touchdown."

When its all said and done Tru may be the greatest football player to ever play at Montana...

Agreed. He is certainly the most talented. Hope to see his continued success and to see #2 retired one day. Tru is his draft class' career interception leader. Hope he finishes the season strong and makes the Pro Bowl.

Agreed. What a freakin beast. Couldn't be happier for the guy..

Be awesome to see #2 retired some day.

Can you imagine the adulation Griz fans would have for Tru if he were a “Montana Boy”.

Sad really.

We'd have retired his number and have a statue already

I always cheered for Tru ... but then I'm one of those folks who thinks they're ALL Montana kids the moment they put on the maroon and silver. I love what he is doing in the NFL ...I just wish he played for a better team.

I think if the rams got a good QB they would be a premier team in the NFL
