I think the funnier part, honestly, is that Griz fans on this forum (including me) were super hot after Mellot coming out of HS and were really hoping he’d be a Griz. I’m happy for the kid. Just hope his performance on Saturday (which was phenomenal) wasn’t an anomaly.

If it makes you feel better, there was a huge gut punch with Bergen running all over us. But same I’m happy he got his shot. Up with Montana kids!

No crying here; both programs had a great year. We're already back to work to get better. The best MT team was clearly displayed on the field and your numerous troll posts were what was rebutted. Mellott played in that game; what was the impact?

I will be watching. Cats should be tough to beat at home. But expect SDSU to be far better prepared than SHSU was. They have film; doubt they will over-use man coverage.

Will watch JMU/NDSU with interest, but as always, NDSU is the gorilla of FCS.

I will be watching. Cats should be tough to beat at home. But expect SDSU to be far better prepared than SHSU was. They have film; doubt they will over-use man coverage.

I’m curious what they plan to do. If you stack the box which I’m guessing they will, maybe they’ll run a 1 high safety look. But either way I think we still see 8 around the line of scrimmage. If we don’t and they are being more passive, I’d expect another heavy dose of #22.

Thankfully to your point, we are at home. Can we show up like we did for SHSU? Can SDSU put a complete game together… I know they usually fall asleep for a half. Coaching..?

Nobody is worked up. Cats appear to be a great team, albeit inferior to the Griz , and TD Tommy has outperformed expectations so far. JMU is a complete team that can play special teams, defense and can both run and sling it. I don't see anybody beating them, but I guess they play these games for a reason since crazy things can happen on any given day. I think the cats have a 50/50 chance of winning at home in the semis. But I don't seem them beating either NDSU or JMU in the chipper.

Mellott is a perfect fit as a Bobcat QB. Great runner and he looks like he should be able to do enough with his arm to keep defenses somewhat honest. He had an absolute dime on a TD pass in the 1st quarter. Couldn't throw it any better. I also saw a whole bunch of 50/50 balls that ended up as completions that won't be against better secondaries. That's to be expected from a young QB, though. Once he learns to not force those against better defenses, he should be a solid QB.

Literally, almost every FCS media pundit has commented how one-side the brackets were set up. It is not hard information to find if you want to see it. When you are the one dissenting opinion, it might be time to look in the mirror or, better yet, you might want to refrain from thumping your chest on your rival's message board. Where the hell were you on November 21?

My take on Tommy:

- an upgrade from McKay (who the majority of cat nation thought would be their savior and sung his praises through 2/3 of the season)
- tremendous runner and athlete
- already showing flashes of his leadership ability
- Butte Tough and a competitor
- has improved the Cats offense and big play threat ability instantly
- not proven as a D1 passer yet. Is only 16-35 (45%) for 228 and 2 TDs. The balls I saw him throw last week were Hail Mary type 50/50 balls that his receivers made plays on or drew pass interference. The one ball to Patterson was a great pass, the others not so much. If he can prove that he can hit receivers across the middle in stride then the cats have a dangerous weapon on their side for years to come. He hasn’t proved that yet.
