There's only one stat that's the most important...WIN.I guess it’s a good thing the standings aren’t determined at halftime. They play 4 quarters for a reason. Fortunately we get to count how many points we score in all four.

Just here for the participation trophyWolf should bask in the glory, notch one isn't nothing.
See my comment in brackets and bold above.
I absolutely did.Sin City seems to base his view of the game/team on how the first half went.
You're right, I want a team like that 2015 Montana team that beat NDSU. A team that plays perfect football all game, every game. A team that just crushes every team they play week in and week out.I stand by my statement. Most of the rant was directed at the entire "we're a second half team" thing. Man, I hate hearing that. I just absolutely detest it, much like the tailgaters who aren't in their seats until midway through the third. But that was a rant a long time ago that hasn't been revisited and never will be because... people and food and beer.
Trip down nostalgia lane:
I remember sitting in the stands after the NDSU game on September 6, 2003, when an upstart D2 football team came in and beat the Grizzlies in our own house. Man, NOBODY thought NDSU was going to win. I remember sitting there after that loss and pretty much everyone was gone, when my youngest son jumped down on the field where an NDSU player was laying in the endzone. He was twelve years old. He told me he wanted to congratulate him on the best game he had ever watched (he started going to games in 1996 when the stadium was much different) even though the Griz lost.
I don't know what the conversation was anymore. But he still has the green NDSU wrist sweatband that the NDSU player gave him.
That is still a pretty cool memory.
My son would go on to play at UConn before getting injured and ending up in the Army. He said that was the coolest memory he has in sports, or anything, because the odds we stacked against them. I don't remember what the score was, I remember they won by one point though.
I remember sitting in the stands after Stitt & Company stunned the NDSU juggernaut on a very warm Saturday afternoon in August 2015 when they swaggered into Missoula like there wasn't a chance in hell they were gonna lose, and the Griz beat them by three points after Joey Counts (RIP buddy) TD run. To me that was pretty sweet.
The point is, to me, those are the tales of probably two of the greatest games I watched in that stadium. They were well coached, well planned, and well played for four quarters. Were they the games like the Mariani comeback against SDSU? No, but that was a crazy game. That was all heart by that team and those players.
When I criticize or praise it's based on what I have seen over fifty years, not one or two seasons. I am not a bandwagon fan that hooped on that train in 1995. I been a fan of this team my entire life, good and bad, and there has been a lot of both.
Yeah, the Griz got theYou're right, I want a team like that 2015 Montana team that beat NDSU. A team that plays perfect football all game, every game. A team that just crushes every team they play week in and week out.
My memory's a little foggy, though, could you remind me how we finished that season?
Yeah I get that, but paired with your previous post about what you expect from our team, I'd definitely take the imperfect team that's 6-0 needing late comebacks over the team that's 3-3 with one amazing, spectacular, perfect win and 3 horrible losses.Yeah, the Griz got thethrottled out of them by NDSU in the second round, but that doesn't take away from either of the games I mentioned, and that was the point of my post.

Maybe you weren't trying to make that comparison, but it's only natural for people to think of that based on what you wrote earlier in this thread.
Precisely. It's a notch higher than you, buddy boy.Wolf should bask in the glory, notch one isn't nothing.
Why do you got to be like that...Precisely. It's a notch higher than you, buddy boy.
Why do you got to be like that...
Well, we're waiting,...still waiting. Great first quarter, finally playing like the players and coaches are capable of,... then shit the bed for two quarters, but came alive again in the fourth. Again, a thirty minute game plan. With all the talent on this team, WHY? The players don't huddle and make up plays, the coaches tell them what to do. Offense or Defense, it comes back to the coaches. How long does it take to realize that all the other teams are aware of Gillman and have stacked the box? Yet, they run him into it time and time again.I think all of that is fair, and I don't disagree with a word of what you said. I do think we came out looking to put up first half points, and the shots we took just didn't land right, but I certainly do look forward to next weekend when we put on a full 60 minute show.
I disagree. The Cats are a gimme.Well, we're waiting,...still waiting. This was game #7. This team is supposed to be firing on all cylinders like a well tuned car. I, too, look forward to their actually showing this from this point forward, but the realist in me sees something else, something ugly. And this week is a short week, as Bobby said, a Friday night game, one less day to prepare, then travel, while Sac State has the advantage of resting and practice time. These coaches are NOT doing their job, at least not very effectively. Maybe THATS WHY they are rated behind the Scats in the first Playoff Rankings.
They could replace the entire team with Ohio State players, and these coaches would still find a way to screw it up. Everyone can believe what they will, but I see a one and done playoff team, IF they make the playoffs. Sac State and the Scats are no gimmies.
They are not doing their job? We are 7-0..... We are never, ever going to be a team that comes out and throws the ball 80% of the time.Well, we're waiting,...still waiting. Oh, you're like Bobby, counting those chickens again. Five games left, and my crystal ball is a little foggy. I'll be here, along with YOU. But, if we are 'one and done in the playoffs' I would expect you to acknowledge it. Deal? They are not doing their job? We are 7-0..... Even if we lost to Sac State AND MSU, we would make the playoffs. But, hey, you do you. Just make sure you come back after we are not one and done in the playoffs and acknowledge it.
Deal. I hope your hopes come true.Oh, you're like Bobby, counting those chickens again. Five games left, and my crystal ball is a little foggy. I'll be here, along with YOU. But, if we are 'one and done in the playoffs' I would expect you to acknowledge it. Deal?
I hope I'm wrong.

At this point last year we were 5-2 and one week removed from having lost to a team that was 3-4.I just remember how great the 2024 season looked, before it fell apart. I guess it wasn't the sky falling that hit me, it was fragments of the 2024 season, and its inglorious end.
