Tonight's game

MU's size on the front line wasn't the issue, (avg of 6'4 and 305 lbs), it was their lack of speed out of the stance. In the first half MU did have some success running the ball, not enough obviously. But it's not the size of the front lines that MSU will face that will be the issue but rather the speed of thos offensive lines. Based on last night a big quick and mobile offensive line could give MSU trouble, particularly early.

This was a good game to open with for MSU despite the criticism. There was never a question of who would win. It was a game that was geared toward finding out what they needed to work on going into a much tougher match next week.

MSU did exactly what it was supposed to do, put the game away early, win big, and avoid injuries. Whether they found much out other than the defensive line issues is questionable. A win is a win, but if anyone in Cat Nation thinks this was a test that would show them how great they think they are, is simply delusional. This is what was supposed to happen, nothing more, nothing less.
I agree with everything you said here. You absolutely can't read into HOW good they will be this year. They proved that they may have most of the pieces there to be really, really good. To me, DL was the only question at the end of the game. But will that turn into them being great all year, including playoffs? Who knows. Preston Gale will be back by conference play which will be a great compliment to Daly, even though I thought Odin Coe did fine yesterday. Ashworth was solid, Sheridan has the tools to be a beast but will he put it all together against a big/fast OLine? We will know more about this team after both SMU and SFA, both tough road games.

I think the Cats look good not great. I think they'll only get better, but obviously play tougher teams.

400 yards of offense against any FCS team in one half is great, when your defense is only giving up 79 yards.

I agree in that we learn nothing from the Kitties this game, other than they for once aren't playing down to the level of their opponent.

Take an eastern team at sea level fly them across country to 5,000 ft and you don't think that takes a toll?
I think the Cat's team speed was evident and Monmouth was put on their heels out of the gate. Kirk set a record for Cat TD's by RB. I just don't see him as anywhere near great. If he doesn't get the initial hole he's ineffective and injury prone but you have to give him kudos for a great overachieving career.

I'll put it very mildly.....................who cares!

This...I'll start paying attention to the kitties around mid-November. We have enough to keep ourselves busy until then.

I won't even pay attention to them then. F*ck the f*cking f*ckers.

Lets see how ill-prepared ASU is for the game!

You guys must have a library full of excuses!

ASU isn't coming from sea level and they have actual talent on their team

That thread obviously wasn't about the Cats

oh ya, and then the Griz (12):

The Grizzlies beat Western St. what 74-0 and were ranked #1 in the country their first game in 2010. MSU looked very good playing a very bad.

Way to run up the score on a D2 school and be proud of it. :thumb:

From what I've seen so far from SMU tonight. Cats win. It's early, they may improve, but they look slow.

Good switch from NDSU to SMU because the Bison would totally own MSEUliss.

They would totally own anyone in the FCS including the Griz and the Cats. They are an awesome team. I don't see anyone in the FCS that is close.

So that legendary cat depth isn't so deep anymore??

BS33, I still think the cats side stepped the Bison for fear of the smack down that was coming and money was a cover. Ash went sackless.

Think what you want. Money counts and another home game means a lot of money to MSU plus home fans satisfaction. I do agree that NDSU would smack down the Cats or anyone else in the FCS including the Griz. Lets be real!
