Time for Chalich to start

Seemed to me he improved a lot from last year. Really would of liked to see more of him. Maybe like the NAU game when it was obvious BG was mentally out of the game. Watched him play high school. He really excelled in the read option spread then.

Chalich played very well today against a poor defense. Gus has also played very well against the poor defenses he's played against. I don't think the QB position is an issue for this offense. Struggles by our OL and inconsistency by our WR have been the bigger issues. Against better defenses, the production of our OL and WR will matter much more than whether we have Chad or Gus behind center.

We really don't know how Chad would do against a better defense. I'll concede to the coaching staff on who they think gives us the best chance to win against the better teams.

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how Chalich does against a solid defense, IF we get that opportunity. I think it'll be hard to drop Chalich for the next start though. Chalich's mobility, and ability to stretch the defense with the long ball will be useful against tougher defenses.

Do people really think that Stitt will start Chalich if BG is healthy?

I think obviously the answer is no. What today shows is that a mobile QB is very important to this offense, no matter what smoke he is blowing about that.

They shouldn't. It isn't going to happen.

The consensus in my section was that there was no injury, must have just been a rumor that spread through there. I didn't realize he was injured, what was wrong with him?

Entirely possible. After last year, Stitt knows how quickly QB's can go down. Giving Chalich another start against N.Colorado would give him some added experience on the road. He knows what BG can do and if our receivers had made some of the catches last week that they made today, EWU would have been a much closer game, for sure.

Chalich's running ability is certainly a plus for our opponents to deal with. And if he doesn't deliver then we know that BG can come in and play competently. 2 capable QBs is nice to have.

I don't know specifically, but it kept him from practice during the week.

Really, I don't think it is.

If it isn't "entirely possible", meaning it isn't even in the discussion, I would question the credibility of this coaching staff. And I'm not questioning their credibility...

I don't know bout the rest of you but I'm thinking it sure is nice to have two really effective and experienced senior QBs. Could be a lot worse like, say, the cats...

For sure. QBs are going to get most of the praise or most of the blame on here for the production of the offense. Good QB is crucial, but the performance of the OL is just as crucial. Their ability to get the job done and the ability of our receivers to catch the football, will be the difference. When everyone does their jobs, a good QB looks great.

BG looked fine to me while he warming up. BG does have a better deep ball, but Chalich was seeing the whole field better than BG has been. Chalich will get the start at N.C., bank on it!

Shhhhhsh! Simply this offense will never beat any of the top D teams without a mobile guy like challich! Nicer touch on the ball also. Gus getting gun shy after too many hits and can't blame him.

On the radio pregame Stitt said BG got nicked up against EWU last week, didn't practice much this week. Said he was available today but Chalich got the start because he got the reps with the first team all week in practice. BG did not look injured on the sidelines today. I wouldn't want to have Stitt's decision next week.

Chalich had a terrific game. Almost any way you measure it.

However, it was against a weak defense. The receivers had more separation today than any game this season. Chalich hit them, even if some were a bit short.

The receivers caught more tough balls today than any game this season. Didn't drop any, I dont think, and only misssed a coupe tough balls. Great day for the receivers.

Chalich was 14 for 42 yards rushing, with a long of 20. Yes, very mobile, but it's not like he had a bunch of long runs. And he missed picking up some first downs on scrambles. I thought he ran too early several times.

Chalich was sacked 3 times. Most since St. Francis game. Was ISU's rush that good, or why so many sacks?

Bad pick but only 1. Bad throw in 2d half, where he scarmbled left, missed receiver and must have hit the defenders thigh pad (when ball came right back fast).

2 fumbles in the first half, but recovered by Griz.

I wonder how sophisticated the offense was, or what they didn't run.

Glad he got his chance and played very well.
