So, I guess most eGrizzers disregard the conference record, which now has UM in 7th place, preferring to the overall, but even that looks bleak: tied for 3rd place w/ Weber & UNC (of all things!). Question: Has UM been at this level in the standings at this point in the season in the past and still made a deep run in the playoffs?

2002, 2003, and 2005 were close with 2 conference losses the worst was 2005 when we lost to Cal Poly in the first round..................

um didn't they lose in the first round all three of those years?

2002 was quarterfinals, 2003 was the first round after 2 overtimes, and 2005 the heartbreaker to Cal poly also first round, but those were our worst records going in. All were great games unlike the recent playoff blowouts when our standings weren't so great....

That loss to Poly in the playoffs was anything but a great game. That game was UGLY by both teams from start to finish.

Yeah I remember it. Was not pretty.

Chalich looked much more comfortable than Gus has. He is a better runner and a more accurate passer. It will be very telling to see what Stitt does. I predict he goes with Chalich, if not and the Griz lose he will get his head handed to him by the fans.

I predict your prediction is wrong.

Isn't that some kind of double negative? I agree with you....

There is no reason not to give Chalich the nod over Brady. He gives the receivers a chance to make a play on the ball and extends plays with his feet. I really like what I saw from Chad. He kind of reminds me of Jordy.

You mean other than the reason that no one really believes that Stitt would.

Maybe. But to Helena's point, it ain't gonna happen....
Unless there was more to the story with today's decision to go with Chalich?

Unfortunately I'm afraid your right.

Maybe Stitt is taking stock in case there's a future playoff game in Fargo?

I agree. Today's college game requires a QB that can run and throw, both to keep the defense honest, as well as to make yards when receivers are covered and keep a drive alive. I would start Chalich over BG for this reason (although the interception Chalich threw today was a bad decision). It is also nice to have 2 QB's available in case of injury.

Chalich has really nice touch on the long ball, and his ability to extend plays with his feet is a game changer. Chalich came up big on a lot of important plays.
