anyways....back to the actual discussion. It look bad to the students when we are cutting budget all around the university and we get multiple cool new uniforms. So they are going to stick to the stuff we have in the room already. We still have all the other color combos in storage and could be used at some point. Bobby is not a fan of changing jerseys and colors. He believes in the traditional maroon and silver. silver helmet, silver pants and maroon tops.

Understanding Hauck's preference of jerysey's, I really like having at least a couple alternates. Especially something special to premier when Montana hosts Cat/Griz (a la the maroon helmets with a Montana outline).

In Hauck's time at UNLV, the Rebels had three helmets, a silver, a red and a black. They also had an an all red uniform set, an all silver uniform set, an all black uniform set and an all white uniform set. So, while BH is no doubt a traditionlist, I wouldn't say he's completely against the uniform craze either.

He also liked the all whites for Montana. The state ag game Bozeman, where the immortal “play another quarter so they could kick their asses some more” quote comes from, saw them in all whites. Wasn’t it Mrs. Hauck who made the suggestion or am I making it all up? It’s still outrageously hot here so that’s possible. Back to the margs.

I'm an old Griz, so I like the CSG as well as anyone. However, maybe you didn't realize that the Maroon/Silver combo is totally unique to Montana. Not another college football team in the country has the combo. None, at any level. I checked a couple of years ago.

Maroon and gold, maroon and grey, crimson and grey, red and silver? Yeah, there are those.

But the Griz are the only maroon and silver clad college football squad.

So there's no drama or surprise that the "throw-back jerseys" are coming and these aren't even close to authentic "replicas", IMO. I want the exact jerseys from 95' , not these. These replica jerseys suck.

No, I was not aware of that. IMHO most lot of those other combinations look very similar to what the Griz wear. No biggie, just a personal preference on my part. I have always liked the copper tops the best, and other than Texas Orange, don't recall anything else that looks the same to these old eyes.

Fact: Maroon was originally paired with silver for the school’s athletic colors as it was thought to best substitute for copper, which could not be accurately reproduced in fabrics. To this day, copper is still difficult to reproduce accurately. Arizona and Arizona State have recently had copper incorporated into alternate uniforms that I think are much better than Montana’s version.

Opinion: Burnt orange is a bad substitute for copper. As far as the gold in the copper and gold uniforms, yellow is not gold. Stick with Maroon and Silver.

I love the look, but the only actual retro part is the top. And those are the one's they wore against NAU a few years ago. Bdizzle, I agree that new helmets are expensive, and a throwback helmet would be a bit much to spend on one game. However, at this point, the Griz have to be literally the only NCAA DI team in the country that has ONE helmet. The matte maroon and white helmets are obviously gone, except for the ones they saved for the equipment room. I know a lot of people don't give a rats ass about Uniswagg, BUT ALOT of really good high school football players DO care.

I don't know about NAU, but they wore them 11/22/08 vs. MSU. UM 35; MSU 3. Clown colors - burnt orange and babysh!t yellow.

For all the people that want new uniforms and other things I think it would be more possible if we could have sell out crowds the past couple years there have been many game with 2000-3000 empty seats that's a lot of money athletics are not getting
