Ranger you may be right and we may not win both games remaining but I do think we jumped over the highest hurdle of the last 3 games of the season in beating NAU. As I have said I think our defense has progressively improved and have begun to develop an identity and confidence/momentum and with that have expectations for themselves that they will try like heck to achieve. Exactly what every defense needs. They may continue to improve and play great football at just the right time.

Overall I just feel this team is better than last year. Something intangible about them. Not saying they are great and ready to win a championship, yet. What they may be doing is starting a culture that could lead to that success in the not too distant future. We should beat UNC though it is far from a gimme and I think the visiting team has had a great record in the brawl recently. So maybe we go in to Bozo beat their butt. In any case I think we have a good chance to end up 8-3 and in the playoffs. Why not?

As for the GRIZ defense, the last 6 quarters have been terrific. Regardless of circumstances, they have improved. The front 7 is consistently stopping the run and getting qb pressure. They still need to improve on containing mobile qbs from making big plays on the ground at key times, which keep drives alive. The secondary is not consistently getting picked apart. They are sticking to their coverage responsibilities for longer. The likes of Epperly and Nash have improved their play considerably. They have earned the trust of the staff to have them play key roles in the defensive rotations.

As for the battles with growler, bw, pr, etc. I admit, I have disagreed with PR, now and then. With that said, I don't recall him lying here, and he has improved how he goes about disagreeing with someone. BW is usually pretty fair and level headed. I'd take either of their word, opinion, etc regarding GRIZ football over growler's any day.

As for sugarcoating, Yes, BW is a more positive than most. However, there have been occasions where he has called for certain improvements and posted the negatives of what he has observed. PR, has been a little less optimistic with Stitt than he has been with other coaches. He also has given kudos when needed to those who have earned it. PR, correct me if I am wrong here, but it seems you have been pretty neutral regarding Stitt, with more of a wait and see approach, than you have been with prior coaches.

Growler, a lot of what you post actually would have more merit and be more respected if you weren't such an ass with so many here. As for whatever is being spread on maroon blood or here, regarding Stitt. As of this weekend, after talking with a few people close to the program, or part of it, at this stage Stitt is not leaving. A decision on his status will come after the season plays out . Yes, there is pressure on his staff to make the playoffs and finish the season strong. Providing there is not a huge drop off in the last 2 games, he will likely be returning. For how long that is, that is yet to be determined. Unless the GRIZ completely collapse against UNC and MSU, the naysayers will continue to be let down. He is likely going to be given an opportunity to prove some of you wrong. Hell, a few of you would not give him credit, even if he were to win championship. Being you'd prefer to have your opinions play out to be right, than to see the GRIZ be as successful as possible.

Also keep in mind, regardless of how the season plays out, the majority of any upcoming decisions will be solely on the shoulders of Bodnar. It will take time for him to evaluate what he likes and doesn't like, to determine the direction he will want to take the program in. Basically, until he and/or Haslam make a statement regarding Stitt, all our opinions are irrelevant, and of little interest at this stage.

I am supportive of Stitt, but am not disagreeing with those that don't support him. I can see their arguments too. To me, the proof will be in the pudding of how the season ends. With the NAU win, I think the season is likely to end well or fairly well. A win over UNC is likely. With a UNC win, and the continued effort, heart and desire to win shown by the team, especially in the last 1.5 games, and the return of Jensen, I believe a win of the Cats is more likely than I thought even as recently as before the last game. The Cat game had concerned me all season. Now I feel more positive on it. 8-3 gets a playoff berth. 7-4 maybe a berth; maybe not. Stitt is going to get retained if UM is in the playoffs. Even at 7-4 and not in the playoffs (and likely a Cat loss), with the QB injury situation, I could see Stitt getting renewed.

I am not hung up in the Stitt arguments one way or another. I support the team. I like the team. I love the team's effort and heart. The team is starting to show that it is a good team. I like Stitt and the other coaches. I know some people don't like Stitt, for various reasons. I am okay with that.

Why don't you get some posters to support your view that the defense hasn't played well, instead of discussing Stitt and making up crap about what imaginary Griz fans and players have said.

Watched Northern Colorado against Sac, Griz start fast next week and the Bears will fold. Terrible offense, QB was gift wrapping INTs.

There are several hundred Griz fans reading this site right now, and I know MANY of them agree with me about Stitt, as well about what would have happened yesterday if Cookus had stayed the whole game. But, anyone who tries to bring objectivity to this board is shouted down by 8-10 of the same clueless hacks. Their strategy is to bombard that poster with insults, "you never played the game" accusations, calling you a bad fan or hater, and coating gloss on a turd by telling you that it tastes good.

When they fail at this, they start the "ban this poster" B.S., because being butt-hurt by objective logic is not within their game plan. Just understand that they are really very few in numbers, have an agenda to suck-up to coaches, and do not represent main-stream of Griz Nation.

Just go anywhere in Missoula where Griz fans are found and ask them about the direction of this program under Stitt, and you will gain the true perspective of our vanishing fan base and discontent with this program. I honestly don't know a single fan who thinks we are on the right track with Bob Stitt leading us. Oh, you'll find some on here, but consider the source.

Yet whenever a poll about replacing Stitt comes up it’s a 2:1 ratio in favor of keeping him. So of course some want him gone, they expected more out of his tenure so far, which is fair.

You just complain and argue to do that, not for context or actual beliefs, but just to be an asshole.

Well I have to say when you agree with me, you are right! :thumb: Just kidding. I think we both and many others on here can see the improvement but also know we arent where we need to be yet. Pretty reasonable and accurate assessments that dont have underlying agenda.

I'm currently at a slumber party with the 1995 and 2001 Grizzly Chapionship teams. Everyone here has agreed with PR and says that Coach Stitt is on the right track and should be given a three year extension. We just got done with the Ouija board where we communicated with the spirit of "Wild Bill" Kelly. Irregardless of the questions that we asked him, he repeatedly answered by spelling out, "Steve Dill is a douchenugget."

Its well known I’m a Stitt skeptic. But seriously, might it be the company you keep? The world looks different when you live in an echo chamber. Most of the time I disagree with Brint and PR about program trajectory, but I value their dissenting opinion. It adds perspective to the conversation. It also helps to get me down from that ledge after yet another Stitt show. If I wanted an anti-Stitt echo chamber, I would spend more time on MaroonBlood. It’s nice when I feel like feeding the beast, but it’s also nice to have positive outlooks as well.

For the record, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, moral victories are a fallacy, a win is a win, I have played the game (not at the collegiate level), I love the Griz, and I think the Griz were damn lucky yesterday. Oh and I’m a pedestrian fan only when I’m walking.

Don't you think that there is enough sugar-coating on here for 10 message boards? There are very few of us who will take the constant dick-pounding by trying to paint a true picture of our program.
