This board is comical...

And, didnt one player lose his redshirt in this game? Enough of this, I love the Griz, but I am going to shut it off for the night.

Hell, the kids are good if not great. The coaches did some dumb things today that make our guys look like toads. Naw, our players are very good. It is the game..... the head coach seems to think this is high school football 101. Win lose or draw the remaining games, we love our players! Mick might be in over his head.

Not one person got killed today.....we will come back. We are a damn good bunch of players!

Aint buyin it az................you can sugar coat all you want but the best thng that could happen with the football program is Delaney resign at the end of the season and find a new headcoach. Its obvious he is in way over his head. The look on his face after the fake punt was he never saw it comin......that my friend says it all. The kids played with no sense of urgency and never really seemed to get fired up. That my friend is a lack of leadership at all levels. A must win turned into a non competitve beat down.

The head coach has 6-8 assistant coaches, none of whom apparently saw it either...including the ST coach.

ummmm....weren't you the one saying that the head football coach takes the fall for poor decisions?

why would the head coach even allow that formation in practice? When he saw that don't you think he'd say, "ya know, that looks like it would be extremely easy for a quadrapalegic football team to run a fake against"

Nope. That wasn't me. Personally, I think Mick got handed a shit sandwich (or as I said a couple weeks ago, was asked to put lipstick on a pig). This was going to be a rough year regardless simply because of losing so many starters...compounding that by losing our HC, DC, OC, AD, QB and now our starting RB, then mix in investigations by the DOJ, DOE and NCAA, making things exponentially worse.

Jumping off a bridge. Chicken Little. 2nd coming of Christ. Arm chair QB's. And something about children and bath water. AZGrizFan put more cliches in this thread than any other shitty post I've seen on this board. That has to be a record. 5 cliches and no coherent thought.

I agree Mick was handed a shit sandwich, but he's done a fantastic job of making it even worse.

This shit sandwich by all rights should be 5-2 right now.

I'll give you credit AZ, you're sticking to your "values" this year, unlike 2008 or whenever it was when you were bailing ship after UM got lucky against ISU in pokey. :thumb:

It's just not the end of the world...and certainly not enough to say and post some of the sh*t people are posting about players and coaches. They act like these guys do this shit on purpose.
I'm pretty sure the coaches call plays on purpose. The punt formation was called on purpose and we should accept that we gave the game away on that call because the coaches need time to grow? How old is Delaney? I'm confident that his growth spurt happened some time ago.

This is not Little Griz football. This is a multi-million dollar business that is being run by a group of people that seem to have no idea what is going on. Some of the quotes from Delaney seem to sum it all up:

“That was certainly, if there is such a thing, a momentum-changer,” Delaney said of the fake punt. “We stopped them; it was punt to us, and us maybe having a chance to go down and hit the field goal.”

“I’m not exactly sure what it was,” Delaney said. “We had I think five or six – not three-and-outs, but no production or very little production. A couple first downs here and there. We just seemed to break down in an area, either in protection, or the catch maybe, or the run. There are a lot of things I’m sure.”

“It hurts to lose and I don’t care what you’re playing – tiddly winks, golf, football or whatever,” Delaney said.

Do you think that Ian Davidson would tolerate continual misjudgments in his upper level management team?

We are not even a contender anymore, and that has a direct impact on the player's chances of moving to the next level.

I think that we have no choice but to retain Delaney for the remainder of the season, however the OC should either be removed from his position or someone else upgraded to assist. The special teams coach should simply be removed as he has no idea what he is doing. It's one thing to be innovative but it's another to just be so out of touch with what is going on that you cost the team games.

can the countless be counted?

Well one Joey Counts can now be counted as one wasted redshirt season for no good reason!

And being a piss poor judge of starting talent, or a capitulator to "shiny bobble starters" doesnt help either. :?

This board and forum you have here is fantastic!! I'm a new Suu fan :D My son just happen to be the true freshman nickel corner, that played and can say he was part of a team that beat a great Montana griz program!! We have a good team and have been in every game (big sky) that we have played ,we should have beat Sac St. Last week . Our forum doesn't even come close to what you guys have here. Our coaches finally opened up the offense and sorenson made the plays when we needed them. Our defense plays well when the offense handles their business anyway not on here talking crap but go to the Suu forum and see what we have , I would die to have a forum of this magnitude  Suu in the house and I'm out.

Have to say the shit sandwich comment really doesn't ring true. We lose starters every year to graduation or for whatever reason. We were still a playoff team with freshman Bergquist & Washington as our starting QB. The talent is there to be a playoff team, but the coaching is not. Yeah the situation obviously isn't perfect for an awesome run at the NC, but there was a LOT of returning talent this year. Remember the phrase we don't rebuild, we reload? Well that still is true.

So I don't see this as Delaney was handed a shit sandwich, I see it as he was handed a fairly tasty sandwich, and then promptly dropped it into a pile of dog shit, picked it back up, and tried to hand it to us.

We should at least be 5-2 right now without the amazingly horrible coaching decisions & lack of 2nd half adjustments that have been going on this year. We could very well be 6-1. Instead we sit here at 3-4 and debate things like why we kicked off both halves in a game, why our punt coverage team was instructed to play 5 yards off the LOS when SUU needed 2 yards, why we have the worst clock management I've ever seen, why we go in a shell and away from what's working as soon as we get a lead (with expected results) and dozens of other WTF moments we've seen this year.

The king of one liners that says really nothing strikes again :P

Someone should tell Mick that... and also let him know that other teams do try fake punts occasionally, and don't give up immediately when they are behind. Other coaches seem to understand that you play the full 4 quarters. Other coaches seem to understand that you make halftime adjustments. Ours...well... I guess they are still learning that basic part of coaching.

Seriously though... are you happy with our team being instructed to drop back 5 yards in an obvious fake punt situation where the other team only needs 2?
Are you happy that we kicked off to begin both halves against UNC?
Are you happy that every time we get a lead our coaching staff goes ultra conservative and lets the other team start creeping back into the game?
Are you happy with the clock management that's been exhibited?

Sorry, can't blame those on the players... that my friend is squarely on the coaching staff. Those are just a few of the many major issues right now with this coaching staff.

I'm sorry my posting style doesn't meet your expectations. Not being happy with the team's performance manifests itself differently in diferent people....you're exhibit A for that. Here's a tip: sometimes, less is more. :thumb:

Do you write bumper stickers for a living? When your entire argument can be summed up in one line, it's probably time to rethink your argument and whether or not you have anything to back it up with :)

You really didn't answer the question either, are you happy with the major issues I mentioned with our coaching, or is that somehow the players fault too?
