They Really-Really Do

Member number 33. Still remember (anxiously) the days of trying to dial in my satellite dish to pull the Griz game feed every game day, and calls back and forth to the Seattle Griz gang to give/get the correct coordinates...and missing a lot of the beginnings of games, in the process. ;) Still have my Griz Dish (tm) on the roof to this day. Had to be dedicated to catch the game (or even results, in the earlier years) if you lived outside Montana.

I have been around since the UGMB day when I was a student at the UM in the late 90's. Spent a lot of time between classes, mostly in places like the Art Building computer lab or the UC upstairs lab, participating on that dumpster-fire of a site. I was never a lurker. Actually knew the guy who managed/moderated the UGMB when it was supported by the Bookstore. Got some hate mail and personal attacks and they decided to pull the plug. If I remember right it may have started with a photo of a person awkwardly standing on the side watching practice during the Dennehy/Glenn Tenure. Way too long ago to remember specifically.

But been around here for 20 plus years now, and it is a bit terrifying that its been that long. That I waited until December of 2002 to join Egriz is a bit pedestrian by some standards. Been here long enough to been called names by all 87 versions of Growler, been offended by Alpha and watched them destroy two sites in the process. I still haven't run away through the back door of the mo-club though.

This is why he's the best in the business, boys.

You don’t coach anymore, or do you?

Quasi Retired. Loved the seasonal nature of coaching football in Montana/Idaho. A bit different animal in Southern California. I do film analysis and game breakdown for some friends on occasion but that is about it.

Ok, here are some stats for you. This discussion piqued my interest so I went through the user stats on eGriz and figured out these tidbits:

As of today, eGriz has 18,043 registered users, all time. Some have been banned, but these stats include even those.

Users with 0 posts: 10,283
Users with 1-9 posts: 4,723
Users with 10-99 posts: 1,873
Users with 100-999 posts: 836
Users with 1,000-9,999 posts: 308
Users with 10,000 or more posts: 20

To phrase it another way, if you have up to 10 posts, you are in the 74th percentile. At 100 posts, you are in the 90th percentile. 1,000 posts puts you in the 95th percentile. 10,000 posts, the 98th percentile. And for the 20 of you with more than 10,000 posts, the 99.9th percentile.

Now you know where you stand. For what it's worth.

Nice work. :thumb:
It would be more revealing to further subdivide the 1,000-10,000 group. Active/inactive recently.

I was previously on one called, "Big Sky Fans Chat Board" until it got shut down because of to much attempted hacking.

I'll add this caveat... there are a significant amount of spam bots in the 0 posts category as they try to post, Payton, cclark and I disapprove their post, and they get sent to the shadow realm, but their accts never actually get deleted from the user database. I dunno about those other two, but I bet I send back 2-3 spammers a day.

Dang! I’m at about 6300 and I don’t think I’ve added much of anything substantial to this site at all except maybe 8-10 posts…unless you count my 4000 posts picking on trolls.

Ahh. Important to know. If I back out all the zero-post accounts, assuming they are mostly spam bots, then the total number of registered users drops to 7,760 and the percentiles drop accordingly:

Posts %Rank
10 --------- 61st
100 ------- 85th
1000 ----- 95.8th
10000 --- 99.7th

Grade inflation had infected even eGriz.

Posters inactive for more than two years should be deleted.
