Hello Griz Fans,

My goal when I started posting was to make it 20 years. I did that today. It’s good to set goals, especially at my age.

Griz Granny

I was one who replied to her very first post, so it got me to thinking, just how long have I been on eGriz? I checked. eGriz was created on March 27, 2002 by Chris. I joined a little over 7 months later on November 14, 2002, meaning I have now been on eGriz 21 years. I was number 152 to join, and almost 18,000 posters have signed up for eGriz though I don't know how many are currently active (some have faded away and some have been banned). I've probably spent more time on here than I should have, but not nearly as much as some, at least based on the number of posts. The two posters closest to me in time of joining that I still see on here regularly are Proud Griz Man who signed up the day before I did and Bear Axed, who joined just a few hours after I did.

How about you? How long have you been on eGriz? You can find out by clicking on your screen name. If you want more information, such as those who joined about the same time, after you click on your screen name, go up one level and scroll through the list of members.

It may seem unimportant, but now that the backup QB is the son of the QB I was cheering on in the 90's, it gets me thinking about how fast time has passed.

Sept. 5, 2003
I had three young sons at the time aged 3, 6 and 9, hence my screen name. They're all grown up now.

Been lurking since the early days, but didn’t join till 2007 when I felt the need to argue w AG1. Hah

I joined in February 2003. Surprised me to realize it was that long ago. How many hundreds of hours have I spent here in the last 20 years????

I lurked for many years prior to that though. Thought..."what kind of fools waste their time on a message board by posting and arguing?"...hahahaha

Cheers to Griz Granny on 20 years on the board! Checked mine as well, pushed 20 years myself this October! I think I set my account up b/c Chris had video of Dave DeCoite getting punched in a playoff game, haha.

I'm sure you were pleased with the boys' performance yesterday, Granny. Maybe enough you'll return next year? You don't want to miss out on all this fun!

Yep, the Griz fell short in the natty. Yep, it hurts: us and the players even more. But I believe this coming fall, the Griz have a great season ahead of them ... the one dark cloud is the possible loss of Griz Granny. She says she is retiring ... but it would be great if she could return to cheer on the boys one more season. I know she only appears for the rivalry game, but think how much that inspired the players and the fans this year. Great boost going into the playoffs. Secured the 2 seed for us. Next year it could be the 1 seed. Come on Granny, get them over the hump. Spark them to victory in the natty. We're counting on you Granny!!

Hey, this post got my attention haha. eGriz was launched to the internet on 2/3/2001 but the current forum software was installed on 3/26/2002 so some of you may have been using eGriz even before your registration date (unless it was just me using it by myself, which is very possible).

As Brint said, what blew the site up was the video of Dave Decoite getting punched... ESPN even aired that video. Cheers to so many years... how many more can it go! Maybe the kids of the current players will be playing for the Griz and we will be discussing them here. Crazy to think.

Well I for one never thought it would last this long, as is obvious by my signature line. Lol. Here's to another 20+!

When I heard that Griz Granny's Timmy was going to the Chipper I asked him to make a Decoite sign.
When Dave intercepted a pass the TV folks looked at the crowd and there was Timmy peaking over the "Decoite Your Nuts" sign

Hit 19 Years today

Having every player back from a crappy team is like kissing a dog... Its wet and messy and still a DOG!!!!

Damn, I thought I was more or less an egriz pioneer, and yet I didn't join until 2004.

Here is one of my earliest posts, in response to G&B wondering if anyone could text him scores during a game.

Anyone remember these antiquated days?

G&B, I don't have text messaging capabilities, but here's another option: Call 800-555-TELL (800-555-8355). Say "Sports", then "College Football" and then "Montana". You can get scores that way, and they are fairly current (e.g they update about 5 times per quarter). There's no cost for the call (other than airtime).

I also recall watching Headline News nonstop for 4 hours during Griz games to see the scores scroll across the bottom of the screen (ESPN wasn't doing that yet). You'd get to know the order, and then just when you knew the GRIZ score was about to come up, they'd go to commercial and the Fbombs would fly.

Man, how far have we come in 20 years. I don't miss the good ol days....

The majority of my early posts were either questions about streaming the Griz game or complaining about how the stream wasn't working or both. There were a lot of games that I missed more of the game than I actually saw. ESPN+ on my smart TV is absolute luxury compared to those days.

Yep. And I remember mailing you VHS tapes of Griz games because you had no way of watching Griz games on TV in the Seattle area. Times have indeed changed. eGriz started 6 years before the iPhone was introduced.

Gosh, I'm a latecomer.
I did discover eGriz in 2003 and lurked for a few years, but I wasn't brave enough to join until December 2006 under a different user name. Two years later, when I couldn't remember my password, I changed my name to the current one. 😌

After much prayer and thought...and consulting with the few friends and family I have left...I've decided to remain halfway committed.

3/28/02. Chris had to walk me through the process of joining. Still not very adept with these new fangled machines. Oh well THE BETCH still rides, still loving the Griz.
