oregon state is saying all the right things about tinks--winner, great stature, high character, family man, perfect fit for the small-town corvallis culture. but we here all knew that the tinks/tres package would be an attractive one someday for some bigger school, so let's look at...the rest of the package.
--tres is 6'6" and 180, but we all know he'll get taller and stronger at the college level. if he grows to 6'9" with all his skills, you will have one phenom of a player.
--he's a three-star recruit (124th in the country) but we all know montana kids get knocked down a star or two, so figure tres is really in the very top echelons of the 2015 class.
--the minute he steps foot on a basketball floor in oregon, he becomes that state's best high school basketball player, the likely gatorade player of the year.
--if he becomes a mcdonald's all-american (and i believe that's likely) he would be only the second oregon state recruit to achieve that feat in 32 years.
--only two teams have ever won a national basketball championship without a mcdonalds all american on their roster.
let's just say, that oregon state a.d. is tres smart. and for us montana basketball fans, dreaming of yet another fabulous frosh class, let us repeat yet again the old refrain about kids: you raise 'em to leave 'em.
