The sound system in WaGriz

Great statement win against the Vandals last night. Really good effort, production and effort on all phases of the game. Really fun night.

But the sound system in the stadium is pathetic. 2 speakers at one end of the stadium. Couldn't hear a word that was being said and it was at a very low volume except for maybe fans near the speakers. The fact that it is either not recognized by the UM officials running the stadium tells me all I need to know about the people in charge of game day entertainment. If I was a sponsor I would be furious paying for gameday ads. They need to revamp the entire system and get speakers surrounding the entire stadium. For such an amazing stadium, the sound system is substandard.

Umm . . . Isn’t the game itself supposed to be the entertainment?
If you just want to watch the game, you can do that from your lazy boy in the comfort of your home. If you want to experience the game at WaGtiz, you pay the $75+ per seat price (more if you are in GSA sections)). For that experience, you would expect the sound system in the stadium to be adequate. It isn’t.

Nope. I pay plenty and have for decades, to see the game and support the university.

You know, you are right. Still, there are young kids, older folks and some causal fans at the games. It is the whole experience that is supposed to be awesome. Especially considering the price to go to a game for so many people. Travel, food, tickets and some new gear. It isn’t cheap. I also don’t believe in setting the bar low. Washington Grizzly is an amazing environment. I hope it stays that way. The sound system is really bad.

No excusing the poor sound system. It sure doesn’t make someone less a fan of the game or the University to call it out. If it’s not a problem for you, great. I would sure love to be able to hear the announcements clearly.

I know before we upgraded our scoreboard and sound system this was a big issue for our fans as well. As you mentioned, it was our biggest sponsors that spearheaded getting it done. Some gave more money which is obviously key; however, I know of several of our biggest sponsors saying they didn’t want to continue advertising until those issues were addressed. That seemed to move it along pretty quickly!

Yes, I never said it wasn't. But if you are going to have a big screen and blast music all game, at least do it right.
The solution seems be in the conditions you identify. Personally, I tire of being urged to cheer for overhyped songs that I don’t care to hear. But whatever floats your boat.

I think every fan should be able to be the kind of fan they want to be. I leave at halftime for a beverage and occasionally miss the second half kickoff because that is part of the experience for me. Some people criticize my priorities. It simply doesn’t matter to me if the stadium has concert-quality sound if I don’t enjoy the other “entertainment” directed at the attendees. I go to watch the game and support UM.

Thumbs up to your first sentence

The yodeling rock chuck is the highlight of the "experience." It is innovative and funny. Compared to crap like the kiss cam, the muscle cam and the dance cam, it's one thing to look for.

I have complained about our sound system for years. It never gets upgraded. Thats OK though, Bozeman has a larger big screen and much better sound system now than the Griz! No reason to not have speakers atop the North Endzone and on the sides of the stadium. I can't believe they cost that much and there isn't a sound engineer around who could wire them all to be in Sync!
