The Real Difference.........

There is a huge difference in "hyperbolic positivity" and "cautious concern". I guess striving for a middle viewpoint between the two is optimal. I know that I fall into the latter category, which bothers some of you. But I'm sure you'll agree that there is also a group of posters who belong to the first group, and seem to be incapable of EVER moving towards the middle. I guess I wear the cautious concern hat to counteract the group of fans whom I believe can never criticize Bobby, or really any aspect of things, such as getting to the NC game because of events which occur once every 20 years or so, rather than winning by dominating an opponent at home in a convincing manner.

In addition, I sometimes give credit to the Bobcats when warranted. It's because I do not allow our rivalry with MSU to cloud my vision on football issues. I can never understand the abject HATRED that some on here have for our in-state rival. It goes way beyond reason, in my opinion. To place such importance on a freaking annual football game as a life-changing event seems a bit radical.

As I have stated repeatedly, I am here to talk football...... the good, the bad, the ugly, and to give props to our opponents when justified. I find it sad that I am labeled a "closet Bobcat fan" or a "Bobby hater" by some. I am NOT a Bobcat fan, nor do I HATE Bobby Hauck. My concerns about Bobby's coaching are strictly based on results, and not personal in nature. Some of you think his results are great, others of us expect more. Should be easy to digest.

There was a Miami Dolphins RB who was being interviewed after the Dolphins won the Super Bowl. The talking head asked him " how do you feel about winning the game-of-the-century"? The player then answered " if it's the game-of-the-century, why do they play it again next season?"

You aren't here to talk football. You are here to criticize Hauck and various pieces of UM football and UM athletics. You are incredibly negative. You are ill-informed. You don't understand the game very well and don't have access to info about Griz football. You have been saying and doing the same things for about 25 years. You are misogynistic, homophobic and at time racist. The stuff you say to Mom is truly pathetic. You outright lie frequently. You must have gotten a stern talking too recently by the mods, as you have cleaned up your posting a bit and apologized to AZGriz.

None of your "concerns" about Hauck are accurate or valid. And virtually everything you said before and during last season about UM football and Hauck was proven wrong.

The problem is that you say these reasonable things, then when people like me and many others try to have a reasonable conversation with you, you attack them with ad hominems.

I don't view it as "Cautious concern" when you write off every accomplishment and just scream all the time about how shitty the Griz are, and move the goal posts constantly. Months ago you were taking credit for saying Ah Yat looks great, and that Bobby made a mistake in not getting him in over McDowell by the end of the playoffs. This year, when you are criticizing Bobby for not being able to recruit a QB, you say that Ah Yat doesn't count because he is unproven.

I have never had a problem with people being "cautiously concerned" about the Griz. You rebut logical arguments with personal attacks and straw men. You constantly find fault with everything Hauck does, even when that contradicts your previous statements. That is why everyone gets so frustrated with you.

People like AZ have been plenty cautiously concerned. When he and I went back and forth about the Ferris game, we made a friendly bet that he won, and I acknowledged he was right. And it not like him and I have sniped at each other constantly since. If you learn to have a reasonable debate with people, you will get a more positive reaction.

Exactly. It would be so wonderful to welcome the prodigal son home but I fear he is really just a wolf in sheep's clothing. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

If dude wants to try to have actual conversations without reverting to ad hominems and goal post moving, most everyone would be happy to talk reasonably, I'm sure. But yea, this will be my fourth try.

If you had 10 posters calling you names, and challenging your opinion on every freakin' post, you'd understand. I have the right to defend my positions, and I will.

Challenging opinions and positions is what this board is all about. I've been proved wrong more than I care to admit, and I've learned a lot along the way. I've also learned to stick up for myself because I am as entitled to have an opinion as anyone else.

I think you need to have a little honest self-assessment here. In certain cases we've practically begged you to defend your position with facts and data and you have patently refused. I certainly haven't seen every interaction that you've had with everyone on this board, but I can say pretty definitively that in most cases you are the one who starts the name calling and then yes it devolves. You can't just light the fuse and run away and say it's everyone else's fault when the room blows up.

The stuff you posted very recently has been reasonable and thoughtful. I can't speak for everyone but I'm more than happy to have a conversation with that guy.

This times 1 million. All he did last year was talk about how awful the QB situation was how awful Bobby was how awful the grizzlies are even though we have all of these advantages and then we go and make it to the national Chipper and not one post of “wow I might’ve been wrong” or wow they exceeded my expectations greatly, my bad guys. Instead, it’s rinse lather repeat with the same schtick all over again. I’ve literally stopped interacting with him all together because there is no bigger waste of time.

Hey Elrod. Fuck you.

I've decided I want that bottle of booze now.

You can go fuck yourself, and it would genuinely be my pleasure.

You just let me know any time you guys are able to make it up here in the coming couple of years. I promise, I won't spend a penny less than $15 on the bottle.
My booze is $90/bottle. I'll take 1/6 of a bottle of THAT, not some backyard horsepiss.

And thank you. I' believe I will...

I'll be back in 5.

I kid, I kid. Genuinely was not a brown liquor drinker of any sort until a couple of a years ago. My managing partner introduced me to whiskey that was not Jack Daniels, and it turns out it can actually be very good.

You just send me the brand, and I'll order it if they aren't selling it on Missoula shelves.

OK. I'm back, feeling refreshed.

Hold that thought. I'll ping you when I'm headed to a game this fall.

I believe the air has been cleared. I would say that was an honest assessment of the problem(s). What changes will come of it remains to be seen. My high hopes are tempered by reality. If all involved put forth a honest effort, this could work.

Since it's Az I wouldn't spend a penny more than $15 either.
