What is this nonsense? Seriously, what is the “real difference”? Where is the “football talk”? This looks like just a bunch of jibberish or a rambling rant with no point. WTH are you talking about? There is a huge difference in "hyperbolic positivity" and "cautious concern". I guess striving for a middle viewpoint between the two is optimal. I know that I fall into the latter category, which bothers some of you. But I'm sure you'll agree that there is also a group of posters who belong to the first group, and seem to be incapable of EVER moving towards the middle. I guess I wear the cautious concern hat to counteract the group of fans whom I believe can never criticize Bobby, or really any aspect of things, such as getting to the NC game because of events which occur once every 20 years or so, rather than winning by dominating an opponent at home in a convincing manner.
In addition, I sometimes give credit to the Bobcats when warranted. It's because I do not allow our rivalry with MSU to cloud my vision on football issues. I can never understand the abject HATRED that some on here have for our in-state rival. It goes way beyond reason, in my opinion. To place such importance on a freaking annual football game as a life-changing event seems a bit radical.
As I have stated repeatedly, I am here to talk football...... the good, the bad, the ugly, and to give props to our opponents when justified. I find it sad that I am labeled a "closet Bobcat fan" or a "Bobby hater" by some. I am NOT a Bobcat fan, nor do I HATE Bobby Hauck. My concerns about Bobby's coaching are strictly based on results, and not personal in nature. Some of you think his results are great, others of us expect more. Should be easy to digest.
There was a Miami Dolphins RB who was being interviewed after the Dolphins won the Super Bowl. The talking head asked him " how do you feel about winning the game-of-the-century"? The player then answered " if it's the game-of-the-century, why do they play it again next season?"
You make some good points, but I find it comical that you will not admit that there several posters who go into attack mode on everything that I post. And, I don't feel the need to "defend" my position with "facts'. Opinions are like butt holes...... everybody has one. Opinions don't require proof, because they are opinions.Challenging opinions and positions is what this board is all about. I've been proved wrong more than I care to admit, and I've learned a lot along the way. I've also learned to stick up for myself because I am as entitled to have an opinion as anyone else.
I think you need to have a little honest self-assessment here. In certain cases we've practically begged you to defend your position with facts and data and you have patently refused. I certainly haven't seen every interaction that you've had with everyone on this board, but I can say pretty definitively that in most cases you are the one who starts the name calling and then yes it devolves. You can't just light the fuse and run away and say it's everyone else's fault when the room blows up.
The stuff you posted very recently has been reasonable and thoughtful. I can't speak for everyone but I'm more than happy to have a conversation with that guy.
Yes, you should provide support for your opinion. That may or may not include facts. You make some good points, but I find it comical that you will not admit that there several posters who go into attack mode on everything that I post. And, I don't feel the need to "defend" my position with "facts'. Opinions are like butt holes...... everybody has one. Opinions don't require proof, because they are opinions.
As an example, just because I think Bobby Hauck is only a very average coach, who has shown no ability to win a NC after four tries, two of which we were favored to win, I get assaulted and asked to provide facts to support that opinion. What facts could I provide? I provide a fact about 0-4, and then immediately a poster challenges me to provide the name of a coach who has taken his team to the NC four times. That is totally irrelevant to my opinion, since just GETTING THERE is not the basis for being 0-4. I have stated many times that I expect at least one national championship during his many years of coaching, since we enjoy the biggest recruiting advantages of any team in FCS. Posters even try to argue that fact, which to me is indisputable. Just read the comments from the three new portal players on why they chose Montana, even over FBS schools, just prove my point. And, I have friends from other Big Sky schools like Sac State, Weber, and SDSU living in my neighborhood, and they give me sh_t all of the time about never winning a NC with the huge advantages we enjoy over their teams. They love to rub it in. So, it seems to be a common opinion among our competitors that we enjoy huge advantages, yet posters will argue that point over and over again. I like living in reality, and not allowing being a fan jade my thoughts.
You see, unlike you, I am not impressed with an outlier season like last year. I look at the total 5-year body of work, including a 5th place conference finish. You obviously are very impressed with last season. And you obviously are willing to give Bobby unlimited number of years to accomplish his promise to "return to dominance". Do you actually believe we have a dominant football team now? And I find it comical that posters can not admit that both the Furman and NDSU games, played at home in OT, were not won by miraculous plays that occur so rarely that any honest fan would attribute those wins as being very lucky. Counting on Bergen to provide TWO ST touchdowns to win one of them, something only done one other time in 25 years of Grizzly football, and then a poor pass into the end zone, tipped into the hands of the WR to win the other one, did not have a monumental dose of luck, then I can't help you live in the real world. As Griz fans, we all relish the wins, and finally getting to the NC game once again after years of drought. However, believing that Bobby's great coaching was the reason we got there, is simply a huge stretch, IMO.Fascinating that the OP evidently does not see the irony in his claims that he gives the bubs credit when due, while simultaneously refusing to give the GRIZ or BH an ounce of credit when due. And there's been a LOT of due.
So no, that's not "talking football". That's trolling.
The John Wick of cheap whiskey.I'll PM you a map and drop a pin. Water it down first. He'll never know.
Genuinely not attacking you. I'll make one more attempt to have a good talk. You make some good points, but I find it comical that you will not admit that there several posters who go into attack mode on everything that I post. And, I don't feel the need to "defend" my position with "facts'. Opinions are like butt holes...... everybody has one. Opinions don't require proof, because they are opinions.

They were not miraculous. One of them was diagramed on a sticky note that Hauck kept on his desk ALL year to remind himself, waiting for the right time to use it.You see, unlike you, I am not impressed with an outlier season like last year. Again, this is my OPINION, and no "FACTS" can be provided to support that opinion.
And for the other play, Junior knew he had a face mask penalty called, and commented about there being no risk to throw the pass. Thus not miraculous at all and actually deliberate tooThey were not miraculous. I agree wholeheartedly!Furthermore, let’s not forget the Griz were picked 6th in the Conf this year and went all the way to the natty. If there was ever a year to give the coaches the team and the program, some major, major, major props it would be this year. But absolutely crickets on what they accomplished from the OP…for that and that alone I will not entertain anything that guy says.
God, that was a beautiful moment that I will never forget. And for the other play, Junior knew he had a face mask penalty called, and commented about there being no risk to throw the pass. Thus not miraculous at all and actually deliberate too
Bobby's work last year was one of the best overall coaching jobs I have ever witnessed. Coaching includes so much: watching tapes of recruits, getting recruits on campus, video reviews of opponents, game planning, meeting with fans, on field coaching, teaching student athletes how to act responsibly, staying in touch with players' families, press conferences, and about 30 other things. Bobby's work was outstanding. To deem it otherwise or discredit it, shows a lack of football acumen. Bobby's knowledge of the sport far exceeds any of the posters on eGriz. That very much includes the OP.You see, unlike you, I am not impressed with an outlier season like last year. I look at the total 5-year body of work, including a 5th place conference finish.
