The NDSU message board

As far as Bisonville goes, it can get pretty annoying for those of us who have been on the message boards for a long time. With the recent success there are more posters signing up all the time. I know lots of the old timers who used to post are not around anymore. The thing I don't like is that a lot of new people are a bit cocky and don't/won't post more than a sentence. When NDSU does lose I know I won't visit the site for a while just because people have become too irrational and annoying.

My main concern with NDSU is the play of the offensive line. They looked dominant in the Iowa State game, but they haven't looked nearly as good in the last 2 games. They will have to play well for NDSU to win this game. I think both teams will have trouble scoring a lot of points.
Wait until you see our OL.
Have they been shaky?
Decimated by graduation, injury and ineligibility. You'll see 3rd stringers and true frosh playing. They will play hard, but they're not good at this point in the season. Would be the weak point of the team if not for our kicking game, which is worse.

Yeah, NDSU's o-line has one returning starter from last year. They are trying to rotate 7 guys in on the o-line, but that seems to be is slowing down how quickly they gel.

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't think anybody "earns the right" to be a cocky loudmouth, no matter how many games your team has won. You win with class, and you lose with class. End of story.

And this post is not directed to North Dakota State fans, by the way. I'll be on the 45-yard-line in Fargo, and I'm looking forward to a great game on Saturday. Both teams have some weapons. As always, it'll come down to field position and turnovers.

Call me crazy but I bet if the Griz won back to back to back natty's our fan base cockiness and hubris would put the current NDSU fan base to shame.

I think this issue could have been said of the Griz a few years back as well and I believe along with the streak is what has increased the intolerance Cat fans have for Griz fans.

I know this will be hard for some of you to grasp, but that arrogance you are referring to is EXACTLY how many of the griz fan base used to act back when you were on top of the FCS, and in fact some fans still act that way, even though you've fallen from your perch. That arrogance is why most true Cat fans can't stand anything grizzly.
When you lose 16 in a row to your instate rival, saying the word, "hello" is interpreted as an act of arrogance. That one is not hard to grasp.

I so is chanting FTG at every home game....and dragging a stuffed animal Grizzly Bear in your homecoming parade....not just the Griz/Cat game

Don't forget that they have a fan from the opposing team burn a teddy bear in effigy every home game in their tailgates.

I have to agree with a few posters here. NDSU has every right to be cocky, they earned it. The win streak and title streak they are in plus beating FBS team will go down as a great era in FCS history. It wasn't long ago that Griz fans were just as cocky as NDSU fans. It's amazing that some of you don't recognize it and are acting all hurt about it.

Yes their program and fan base have earned it. I don't have problem with that. However, making outlandish statements about your opponent or opponents fan base not knowing what loud is, that is not true nor being realistic. They have earned the right to be brag, be cocky, etc about the results on the field. Just keep what your bragging and being cocky about realistic!

That goes for any fan base, not just NDSU's.

A little quote from Joe Glenn from Saturday:

The unsung hero Saturday was the crowd, which forced the USD offense into at least one penalty. Asked about the atmosphere, Glenn, who led UM to a national title in 2001, didn’t hold back.”

“What’s the best at our level? This is it,” he said. “You guys are lucky.

“And I thought their kids were classy, gentlemen on and off the field. They’ve got something going. They need to get a little better too, and they will.

Funny story was that two years out of college, I was in Fargo for work and actually had a high school buddy that was going to Concordia but living in Fargo so we went out. That was just prior to my obtaining my chesttodrawers syndrome( where your chest falls into your drawers) and was still near playing shape from my Griz days. Anyway, my friend and his wife and I are having drinks and having fun. I had on a Montana sweatshirt and one of the three guys near our table started popping off about the Griz sucking. I knew they were a D-II power at the time but wasn't too concerned about it and it was prior to us winning a NC, so I was just ignoring it. However, it got worse and I finally grabbed one of his buddies and told him that I was in a no win situation here. I didn't want to get into a fight and lose my job, and if the drunk little bastard hit me on the button or something than David beat Goliath. If it went the way I pretty much knew it would go, it was the Big Bully from Montana knocking the crap out some small college kid. Thankfully let got him out of there before it got worse. And that was one thing that has almost always run true to this day, you never really have to fear the loudmouth popping off, it is the guy in the corner with the ten mile stare not saying a thing that usually is the toughest one and the one to worry about.

I predict a big win by the Bison. Like say 48-13. I hope its a close game,(I honestly do), but from what I've gathered from you guys, it sounds like JJ hasn't been himself this year. I haven't watched you guys play other than the 1st quarter of this last weekends game that I had recorded, until the Denver game came on. By the way, your color commentator needs to learn the difference between a 6 and an 8. He credited Van with a lot more plays than he made. Some when Van wasn't even on the field.

If you're giving 35, I'd like to place a bet for $10,000.

He mistakes 6 & 8 alot because the uniforms bunch up and it's difficult to tell the difference (both fellas being black and all)...he also mistakes 26 for 38 a lot, giving credit to Canada for Nguyen runs and vice-versa....that one's a little more perplexing, except for the fact they're both short and fast and running backs.

How bout I give 18.5 and I'll go to Draught works next time I'm in Missoula and buy you a pint on their buy a friend a beer board if you lose by less. Like wise you for me if it goes the other way. I think its going to be close, like within a touchdown close, or a blow out win for NDSU. I just think its going NDSU's way big for some reason. Now, my gut could be wrong, mind you. Right now its full of gas station coffee, so I wouldn't take too much from it.

You went from 35 to 18.5? :| :|

I'll take the bet....

Have seen a lot of comments and know as week goes on the comments will grow.

I have prepared comments that are going to be revised as some of the comments come in. Be warned in advance they will not be well received by a lot of people. They will be accurate to the point based on personal observation of their fan base at its worst.

My comments will accurately portray the cultural differences in the two bases ( Montana and the unnamed outfit from Fargo).

Tentative date for posting is Thursday Sept 18

Can't wait to hear your lies again

I, for one, hope for a good game.

I think Bison fans have had this one circled since the home/home was announced. When we moved up, you guys owned the pedestal of what we would like to be. Typically tough defenses and hard nosed physical teams.

The Bison message board has its fair share of village idiots for sure, but for those of you who come out to Fargo for the game, I would love to hear what your tailgating, game, and postgame reaction is like. Living in Montana, I am around enough Griz fans (and I even know of a Cat fan) to know that there is a difference between message board fans and most gameday fans.

From the start of the year, this game has worried me more than any other (including Iowa State). We are younger than we have been and this game will have a lot of emotion associated with it. In Ames, it was a no lose situation... if we lose, it's to a Big 12 team and its not shocking to anyone. I hope our players can handle/channel the emotion and not let it further disrupt their ability to act quickly and properly (we've had some terrible, dumb penalties this year).

I can't wait to see our respective D ends play. Wags is a beast and our very own Kal-El Emmanuel isn't too shabby either.

In the end, what a bunch of jag off's think and pontificate will happen doesn't mean anything. What matters is what happens on the field.

Good luck Griz

Actually, I don't have time to wait around until the 18th. Could you just go ahead and release your manifesto now?
