Paul Morris win gatorade player of the year next year

There is a trend starting to happen, missoula players are dominating this title. And Paul Morris is the only liable canidate for this award out of missoula next year so just put 2 and 2 together and there u have it!

The Gatorade Player of the year is almost always given to the player who appears to be the best player in the state before the season starts! It is amazing the award rarely if ever reflects the player who had the biggest impact on the Montana team for the year. I do not know who picks the award, but I prefer to look at the Mr. Basketball award given out by the Billings Mid Land Round table club (Jack Mcgillis was presented with the award yesterday, 6-11-05), The USAToday State award or the greatfalls Trib Super State team. That said though I could not be happier to see Charlie get the award.

BTW next year. The Senior to be class is considered to be the weakest talentwise in Montana in 20 years , with no playrs even close to being d-1 material . The Junior to be class is considered to be the strongest and deepest class in 10-15 years. There are already 3 players that are being recruited strong by D-1 teams and a couple more that are on the fence. Don't be surprised if the awards next year go to underclassmen.

Ok, names please....

Swilly there are three that come to mind Howard of GFHS, Selvig of Glendive, and Edwards of Butte. I have seen Morris play this spring and summer and there are other juniors like Hurley of Anaconda that are as good or better. These four junior are complete players and play both ends of the court. Also a senior that is very good and is the one bright spot in this senior to be class is David Foster of Big Timber excellent shooter but gets no attention because his team doesn't make it to state.

It will be interesting to see how all do Howard, Foster, Hurley, and Morris are all on the same team this summer in Vegas the end of July.

Just because Jeff Edwards is 6'8'' does not make him good.....please....

In my opinion they are not gonna give the award to anybody out of the AA, and I dont see anybody better than Morris this year.

we will see....

If you think only AA he still is not the favorite. Desin from Senior and Taylor from West both are excellent players.

Question have you seen these other guys play? Because Morris, Hurley and Howard played against each other this spring in Butte and Howard & Hurley had no problem scoring or defending Morris.

Morris is a good three point shooter but he is not a shoe-in for this award. I think Foster might be the exception to your AA only rule.

Just an opinion of one who has watched these guys all play.

I have seen all these guys play and I would say the best high school player is definately Taylor from West. He's a tough SOB, who can really shoot it. Plus, he's a nuisance on defense. Morris is good, but definately overrated by some on this site. He's limited as to what he can do as his quickness isn't outstanding and he's not that big. Howard definately has the most college potential. He's extremely skilled on the perimeter for a kid his size. Usually someone like him has been confined to the post, but he has not been. As soon as he matures a little (pysically and emotionally), I think you will see a DI player for sure. Edward from Butte is also pretty dang good. He has some holes, but lets remember he was also a sophomore this year. And he made huge strides from his freshman to sophomore years, primary in my mind because of an obvious committment to the weight room. He had a huge impact on games this year and should be a dominant force his senior year. Desin is a great athlete, but I don't see him as anything more than a good high school player. He shoots a very poor percentage (possible product of a system) and is very careless with the ball. Just a few thoughts, I'll be quiet now.

No disrespect intended but is it really appropriate to discuss a high school kids rumored family problems here?

I think it is poor taste whether it is true or not. Wait till he enrolls in school in Missoula in September than talk about how fortunate that school is to get a good player don't talk about his family problems. :( :(

Everybody wants the scoop or a rumor....its like teenagers with porn.....they say they don't look at it but they do all the time.

Agreed. I know that I wouldn't want my dirty laundry put on a message board for everyone to see. :(
