The Montana Gatorade player of the year is.........

Cox's visit to Western went very well.

I don't know if he has taken or is planning on taking a visit to Rocky.

I think that he is very interested in Western and I believe he will end up there unless a more lucrative offer comes his way.

Vinny Giovanni (sp), the guy who held all the hellgate assists records before charlie, is pretty close to alot of the hellgate players and he attened Miles City, so I wouldn't rule it out. The source i heard this from may not be right, but they are very reliable and would know straight from charlie. I hope western wants charlie. Has he talked to carroll or tech??

charlie already visited rocky when he went to the sheridan classic. he also talked with miles city but he is going to be attending western.

Hows does Dawson Community College do with getting players to a D1 program? In my opinion to go the JUCO route a player should prostitute himself out to the Southern Idaho's, and any Jayhawk Conference JUCO team.

he already signed with western and now is going to fall into the durham trap. his players like him because they can get away with anything but they dont get better and they will never be an actuall frontier threat. they always have the players but missing a good coach. i wish charlie would have looked deeper into his options.

Big news today. Lost of posts!!

Going to Miles City would be a waste. What a horible town and can someone please name a player that went on to play D-1 basketball from Mile City.

Scott McDonald played for Montana State in the early to mid 70s. He turned out to be pretty decent. His daughter is a very good golfer.

Bball Whiz....a few questions...

1. What other options did Charlie have?
2. What do you mean by "get away with anything"?
3. What happened to Hibbert?

I just checked that MCC link. There a few familiar names.
Scott McDonald was better than all of them. IMHO.

Paul Morris win gatorade player of the year next year

There is a trend starting to happen, missoula players are dominating this title. And Paul Morris is the only liable canidate for this award out of missoula next year so just put 2 and 2 together and there u have it!

Amen swilly

Morris will join Henkel, Hasquet, and Cox to make it 4 in a row for Missoula. Morris will be the most talented senior next season and his competition will be Desin from Senior and junior Bob Howard from GFH. Morris is the best of the three and he knows it. He's already predicted being the recipient of this award next year openly to many ppl.

The Gatorade Player of the year is almost always given to the player who appears to be the best player in the state before the season starts! It is amazing the award rarely if ever reflects the player who had the biggest impact on the Montana team for the year. I do not know who picks the award, but I prefer to look at the Mr. Basketball award given out by the Billings Mid Land Round table club (Jack Mcgillis was presented with the award yesterday, 6-11-05), The USAToday State award or the greatfalls Trib Super State team. That said though I could not be happier to see Charlie get the award.

BTW next year. The Senior to be class is considered to be the weakest talentwise in Montana in 20 years , with no playrs even close to being d-1 material . The Junior to be class is considered to be the strongest and deepest class in 10-15 years. There are already 3 players that are being recruited strong by D-1 teams and a couple more that are on the fence. Don't be surprised if the awards next year go to underclassmen.

davisten her are yur answers......
1. all the frontier schools, not really sure about any after that.
2. "get away with anything" means on and off the court. he doesnt care if you are 4-20 from the field, you dont have to play defense, you can turn the ball over 10 times a game and still play and he has no rules about anything outside of basketball. such as drinking or partying. he hears about everything but still lets stuff go on that shouldnt.
3. the story that i have heard is that hibbert and durham didnt get along because of clashing attitudes. durham got down on hibbert because he wasnt scoring and sometimes didnt like his attitude on the court. for those of us who ever watched him while he was at sentinel knows that he can score. he does have a little attitude to him but i dont think it is the kind that hurts a team. he hates losing and does what he can to prevent it. hibbert didnt like durham because he didnt like how he coached. he was upset about the lack of team play and effort put on the defensive side of the court. but who really knows, this is something i heard through the grapevine. has anyone else heard anything?

Cox was not offerred by Carroll.

I attended the Montana/Wyoming game in Billings. Cox is the real deal. He had a very good showing on the weekend. Western really got a good one there. Hibbert must have seen the writing on the wall. All of the Missoula kids played great and have good futures ahead of them. Good luck!
