The Big Sky 1989-1996

This is a reminder for those of you that can't stand it that we don't rule the conference anymore. E Wash, Mt St, NAU, and Cal Po have caught up with us. We are no longer the only consistent great team in the league. For those of you too young to remember or too old that your Alzheimer's has set in, this reminds me of the late 80's to mid 90's. we had to compete every year with Nevada, Boise, and Idaho for the title. We only won three titles before are run started in '98. In '93, '95, and '96. The '96 title, Nev, BSU, and ID were all gone. It wasn't us building a dominant team that brought us the success we are used to seeing. It was all those other teams moving up and us staying behind. Well now it's back. Just a new set of usual suspects. It's time we get used to it until E Wash and Cal Po move up and Ash gets hired by an FBS school.

Neither of those things are EVER happening, so I guess we're fucked.

Yeah, every FBS school is looking for a 62 year old FCS coach who hasn't won the tough games at that level.

I was right with you until that last sentence. BSC has gotten competitive again and is approaching parity. We need to get used to that idea and appreciate it. I remember people on this board griping that the BSC was a weak conference just two or three years ago. As for Cal Poly and EWU, Griz can beat them both and will again.

Actually he's right except for one tiny point EWU was giving us fits then too....
They were the closest thing but for the most part we still dominated them although they were the last team to win an outright title in '97 before we started are run.

And why is there parity in the Big Sky again? You can thank the Griz dominance for that. Great teams force other teams to get better so that they can have a better chance at beating said great teams.

beating the Griz in 2013 does not make you the new Boise State.
No but winning a NC, beginning a run of conference championships, oh and having a colored home feild that no one can win on is a good head start.
