The 2025 offense was unreal

-Spend the $$, go get a A+ Strength and Conditioning coach, Offensive Line Coach and put our efforts in recruiting and the portal on the Trenches first.
If we keep changing offensive line coaches, we won't get anywhere with the offensive line. We need consistency at that position. We need Bobby to stop meddling with the strength and conditioning coach and the offensive line play. Bobby, you picked the position coaches and strength and conditioning coach, let them cook.

The only team good enough to beat us was the cats, who just happen to be our rival. I’m not escusing the losses but no reason why we shouldn’t celebrate the 13 wins. We’ll take it on the chin and focus on getting over the hump next year
I am just going to throw this out there. This years team with slightly better play in the trenches (a bit more on the Defensive side of the ball) wins it all. The lines have been the issue since the rise of the Dakotas. Everyone knows it. Fix it. Other teams with less money and recognition have the lines. No excuses from the staff. Fix it.

What makes you think Bobby is capable of fixing the lines after failing at the task for 8 years?

Well, there has been a lot of emotional and reactionary takes here. I think that the pain of losing really does cloud peoples judgement, and looking at this offense really does put some things in perspective.

What we saw with the defense and special teams from 21’-23’ shows that Bobby is capable of putting an elite unit on the field in those 2 phases. What the offense did in ‘25 shows that he can field an elite offense. What needs to be seen is can we put together an elite unit in all 3 phases at the same time.

Can Bobby move past his stubbornness and find ways to do it. I believe the only reason we saw this offense excel is that the reigns were taken off the coordinator and offense as a whole with much fewer limitations. Can the same be done on the defensive side. Bring in someone with experience and let them loose?

Will Bobby move on from Tim and Roger(who has far too much connection to Bozeman than I care for)? He’s finally shown some adaptability the last few years, but has a long ways to go.
What do you think Bobby is stubborn about? I find the stubborn comment to be silly.

I don’t agree on the lines comment. Everybody doesn’t know it, and you certainly don’t

We had some impressive play on the offensive line by some Olinemen and some subpar play by a couple Olinemen. We need all of them to be par or above, preferably well above par next year.

I’ve been of the opinion all year that some of our younger guys were better than the guys starting over them.

I can't say the same because I wasn't at practices. The one time we had a chance to see due to injury, I thought the play of the younger guy was at the same level, if not above. Unfortunately, for the other Oline positions, we will never know.

Look at some of these numbers:

Keali'i Ah Yat: 4,070 passing yards, 271 YPG, 33 TDs, 9 INTs / 67 rushing yards, 8 rushing TDs
  • Tied for 3rd in single season passing TDs with Ochs
  • 2nd best passing season only behind Dave Dickenson
  • Passed Craig Ochs in total passing yards this season, currently 11th all time. On pace to break Montana's passing record
  • 41 career passing TDs tied for 8th with Brad Lebo. Also on pace to break Dave's passing TD record

Michael Wortham: 50 passing yards, 1 TD / 345 rushing yards, 7 TDs / 1224 receiving yards, 10 TDs / 862 return yards (mostly KR).

  • 2,431 all purpose yards, a new Grizzly record by 166 yards
  • New record holder for average APY per game, passing Dick Imer (has 162 APY/g where Imer had 157)
  • 6th best single receiving season ever, passing Jamaal Jones
Eli Gillman: 1540 rushing yards, 21 TDs / 240 receiving yards, 2 TDs.

  • Currently holds the longest individual rushing TD (85 yards in 2023)
  • 3rd best single season for rushing TDs
  • 3rd best single season for rushing yards (between Chase's 2008 and 2009 seasons - Yo still first)
  • 3677 career rushing yards is currently 4th best (Lex - 4018, Chase - 4067, Yo - 4070)
  • Tied 3rd best single scoring season with Chase Reynolds
  • 3rd most rushing TDs scored, career, with 49. The record Chase holds is at 52
  • 53 total TDs (including receiving) which is 2nd best, career, surpassing Lex. Chase holds the record at 59

Brooks Davis: 698 receiving yards, 5 TDs / 36 rushing yards, 1 TD

  • New record for freshman receiving yards, surpassing Jon Talmage by 11 yards

The Montana offense
  • 615 total points scored, a new record
  • 81 total TDs scored, a new record
  • 338 first downs, 8 short of the record
  • 7,175 total yards of offense, a new record
The correct statement should be : some of the offense was great but the rest was marginal at best. I mean we could not even snap the dam ball.

It was a historic offense that needed collective effort to attain the success it did. It'd the way football works. Our Doris Robinson winner had a few moments of bad snaps. But ill take the dude on my team all day every day.

historic in the sense that the Cats completely shut it down in the second half? Come on man. There were a ton of deficiencies throughout the year. The 2 playoff games were phenomenal, but I think that produced unrealistic expectations. This offense put up good numbers against average to good teams. It’s a very good offense but not a historic in the sense that it brought us a championship at either the conference or national level.

I want to help.

I’ll start this off by saying I love what Botner represents on and off the field. He’s a good dude, a smart dude and will be a successful dude far after football.

I got tired of the condescension and hypocrisy with this particular situation this year though. Bobby gets all pissy when questioned by the fanbase and media because he’s doing something that isn’t conventional. Whatever his motivation for rotating our centers after having the same two guys in different roles last year we will likely never know. He gets mad at Frank, fair or not and airs his frustration, ok. But Bobby through both tenures and multiple times this year states that there is a reason there are starters and that it is a meritocracy. We see lots of mistakes in snaps that consistently cause issues in executing offensive plays or significant delays when one center is in the game, and even Lehman fans are picking up that it’s an issue yet it isn’t corrected and there isn’t an adjustment. Why? Did Botner grade out high enough in blocking assignments to offset a consistent snapping problem?

Ok then Mr knows more than everyone. Enlighten us. What would need to change on this years team to get over the hump?
Griz need to make a few more plays, get a few less bad bounces, not have key players taken away with dirty plays and bad targeting calls, sand continue to fill gaps as they arrive. And more money for NIL. Would be nice to keep Gillman. Griz have the championship QB. It will be nice not to have to replace the whole D. Griz are very close. There are no huge problems.

Offensive line has to replace:

Everett Johnson - R-Sr
Cannon Panfiloff - R-Sr
Cade Klimczak - Gr
Patrick Matan - Gr
Liam Brown - R-Sr
Dylan Jemtegaard - R-Sr
Evan Shafer - Gr

Behind those dudes - there's a lot of R-Fr and Fr
