I am pretty sure that my basketball background is more extensive than your basketball background.

What is your background in hoops? How many of your kids played high school basketball? How many basketball coaches in your family? How many of them in the MT coaches hall of fame? How many in their college's hall of fame?

Seems like a lot of your "experience" is based on others experiences.

Perhaps. But also 3 sports in college and 3 in high school. Also 2 sports hall of fames. How about you?

mthoopsfan has not been a fan of Holsinger from the day he cut his beloved MT players and would have still bee critical if the Lady Griz went 30-0 and won the national championship. Momberg played on a pretty bad Western team and was not a starter. Murphy played on a UTC team that went 7-23 and was not a starter and you say she would have been a contributor?? The facts are right there!! Now take a look at the 4 he has coming in next year and what they have done in high school and likely more to come in the coming months.

I personally don’t have much but know a couple of big time coaches. Cousin was a PG in the Final Four. Also have cousin who is currently a Division 1 coach in New York. But I’m just a fan.

I would recognize that logic anywhere, PR is back !

Not true. I would have thought 30-0 was great. But yes, I didn't think the new coach did any better than Petrino would have done; in fact, the new coach did worse, in my view. Murphy started at times (early in season and then again later in season at times), and played well down the stretch, at least when I looked. Momberg started the first game, and then left school for a couple weeks due to a death in the family. When she got back, she eventually worked her minutes up. Murphy and Momberg contributed a lot more this year than the 2 foreign players brought in by the new coach, who sat on the bench and scored a total of 6 points on 2-11 shooting.

Get your facts straight if you're going to try to debate with me.

You know a lot more than HHH. Isn't' your cousin a football coach?

It would seem that my dog has as much experience coaching basketball as does hoops. I will acknowledge that hoops may know a bit more than him though.

It was fun to watch this year, didn't go how we wanted, but the future looks good. Good luck to the Seniors in whatever you choose to do. :thumb:

Agree, good luck to the seniors and thank you for your time here. But, what was actually "fun" to watch this year? And what about the future looks good? The men are returning the same starting lineup. I guess with the women there is upside

We're talking knowledge of the game. But, some things have rubbed off from the 15 or so current coaches from my family and my wife's, a number of whom were hoops coaches and one a college hoops head coach for 18 years. I'm happy to put up my knowledge and experience with yours, which appears to be about zero. I agree that you have a bigger mouth.

No, he is Derek Kellogg. Played for Calipari at UMass, coached there. Currently with Long Island. His brother is a hockey coach and played for the Black Hawks.

Your evaluation of the 6 girls cut by the new coach leads me to believe that maybe you need some more to rub off.

I didn't evaluate them. I said a new coach shouldn't have cut 6 players, in the first week, without watching and evaluating them. He shouldn't cut them by zoom. He was a dick to them. His move was unprecedented in college basketball, to my knowledge. There must have been unused scholarships this year. Two of the new coaches players scored a total of 6 points for the season. Your dog could have scored as many points. Let's see you try to make a substantive post.

PR, we all know that you don't consider any post substantive if you disagree with it. PR..the master of do what I say and not what I do.

Last year is not evidence of what could have been this year. Also, you spout nothing but opinion and speculation, neither of which should be considered "substance".

You have no substance, or knowledge. You can't make a substantive post. You don't understand the game. Never played it. Big mouth; nothing else. Get out of here with with none-substantive BS.

The fact that you come on here under a new screen name spouting the same sh!t, when its plainly obvious who you are, is actually embarrassing. Please go back into hibernation, eGriz was a better place for it.

Awww cute. I'd recognize that self-congratulatory cadence anywhere! PR is back on eGriz flexing his deep-seated insecurity again. Who hurt you?

Actually he provides substantial information, entertainment and factual driven statements with a little bs mixed in. Most would agree eGriz is far better when there is active opinions being posted. There are some that irritate me (the Self promoting I’m funny guys) but eGriz is better when they post.

Curious, what about the men's team makes you believe that the future looks good?
Because unlike you who’s pessimistic about everything, some of us choose to believe this can be better. I believe we can, but we have no way to know for sure as right now with our season ending 2 hours ago. The first reason why is just looking at all the seniors on other teams graduating. That alone makes us a much older and experienced team. The second reason is I think we are going to make some changes to the roster. I think we will bring in bigger guys and I think we will be a better rebounding team Because it’s hard to get much worse. What reason do you have to believe that Decuire won’t make the necessary changes to improve this team next season?

I don’t think this is necessarily true. There will be a lot of 5th and 6th year seniors in the Portal. My guess is that portal this year will be older than it has ever been based on so many people with free Covid years.

WSU had two 5th year transfers in their starting line-up this year and it was their first and last year at WSU. EWU lost their entire team and was still older than Montana this year based on who they were able to pick up. Idaho’s backcourt was a 5th year and a player in his 3rd year. Both in their first year at Idaho. I believe PSU also had a few.

Just looked at Murphy's end of season stats. Started 3 of last 4 games. In last 8 games when her minutes went way up (between 19 and 34 minutes), she had 4 games scoring 14, 12, 12 and 9. She had 50 rebounds in those 8 games, with 14 and 12 being her two best. She had 6 and 5 blocks in two games. She was 2d on her team in blocks, 1 behind the leader. The was definitely a contributor. She had 9 starts for the season.
