Thanks Coach

Mick Delaney came from retirement, and a long-time coaching career, to return to save the program from a clueless administration. He kept the team together, he built on it, and in his final year, he led it into the second round of the national championships.

He did so with class and grace, and that is something to be said for a Butte Irishman.

His players loved him. This fan thought he epitomized what collegiate football is supposed to be all about and so did his players, every one.

Next year, for me, will be an alien landscape without Mick Delaney, Jordan Johnson, and the graduating seniors. This era will be a permanent memory I will reflect on all the remainder of my life, the Mick Delaney era.

Best wishes in retirement Old Man. You elevated Montana Football.

Some former players have voiced their thoughts about Mick and his impact on them during the last few years. Here's just one of those thoughts:

Agreed! The negative posters on here need to troll a different thread. There are plenty of other negative threads on here. Stay out of this one. Mick D. did a great job getting us to where we need to be now. Now lets continue upward and start a new chapter!

Good riddance MD. Time to look forward to the future and to what some new ideas and fresh thinking can bring to the program.

I agree. While a nice guy. Delaney was a complete waste of our time.
Wow..maybe it's you wasting your time. He did ok...not great, but ok...and, yes, he is a nice guy...

Congrats to Coach Delaney on a great career. He is now a legend of NW coaching, and I've never heard another coach say a bad word about him.

Congrats Coach D! Griz Nation thanks you for your leadership and your passion. Enjoy your well deserved retirement!

You two are spoiled idiots. Coach D took over during a time of turmoil and got things back on track. The vast majority of coaches would have failed in his position. Thanks coach!!!

They are total losers. Hiding behind a keyboard. No balls at all.

Thank You Coach Delaney!
You gave your all to Griz Football, the kids, the fans, the school and have us pointed in a good direction for the future.
Enjoy your retirement coach.
A very appreciative Griz Family!
Go Griz!

Agree that he righted the ship and did a pretty darned good job under the circumstances and he is class all the way and well respected by all including even most of the Bobcat faithful. Good or great coach, I would sday likely no. We need to thank him for doing what he has done and now it is time to move forward quickly with a great hire who will return the Griz to greatness
