PR, you maybe entirely correct--Ty may not have done anything illegal, but there was/probably still is a lot of concern about Ty and his life style and possible alcoholism. He placed himself in a very bad situation even if he did nothing wrong other than drink entirely too much. USC fired Steve Sarkisian earlier this year when he appeared to be drunk and/or stoned at a press conference and apparently refused to go into treatment.

Ty was arrested in March 2009 in Minn. for DUI, plead guilty in July, and paid a fine. His Montana driver's license was revoked.

As UNLV AD Jim Livengood stated at the time in a Las Vegas Review Journal article dated May 11, 2010, " Assistant Football Coach Urged to Resign After Arrest,"

"I have no knowledge if this is true, but it wouldn't shock me if all charges were dropped. But that can't be the point in this. I feel horrible because Ty is a good young man and a good young coach, but we have a responsibility to the integrity of the program and perception of our program."

Livengood went on to state that if Ty didn't resign, his contract would not be renewed when it expired in June of 2010.

Now if you think Livengood was just a stick in the mud, these same concerns followed Ty when he applied for and was a finalist to succeed Bob Green at Mont. Tech that December.

" If you think you've got a guy with baggage, in the last year and a half, it's more like luggage," Gregorak said. When you google my name, you're going to see some things."

When a Tech parent expressed concern about what kind of role model Gregorak would be, "I hope three years from now, you won't question whether or not to send your kids to me, Gregorak said.

"Gregorak States His Case, " Bill Foley, The Montana Standard, Dec. 16, 2010

Tech hired South Dakota DC Chuck Morrell instead of Ty.

Hopefully, now that it is 5-6 years later, Ty is doing well, is sober, and if an alcoholic, in the lifelong process of recovery.

I think he is a great coach, and it appears the overwhelming majority of his current/former players agree, including Brock Coyle and Jordan Tripp. So I wish the best of luck to him !!!

But it does irritate me when he whined about still being in Missoula 12 years after he first became a GRIZ assistant and how he longed to coach in The Pac-12 and NFL. Legi is now at Hawaii, Cramsey is at Nevada, Dave Doren is the head coach at North Carolina State of The ACC, and Ty is in Bozeman. If he doesn't like his life story up to this point and the progression of his career, he should take it up with the author: himself !!!

As for TG's drinking too much in Boulder that night. see the following. He wasn't. The DUI was unfortunate. He's not an alcoholic, and like most of us, drinks less than when he was younger. "A dozen friends of Mr. Gregorak all provided statements ... that Mr. Gregorak was not intoxicated during the time he was with them."

As for the AD's quote, again, the UNLV president made him fire him. I was told that the AD later provided an recommendation for TG for the Tech job.

Players absolutely love TG, including Tripp, Coyle, Colt. It was Tech's loss and UM's gain that Tech didn't hire him.

Again, TG had the opportunity to be the DC of Hawaii (which would have doubled his salary) after he took the MSU job, and decided to stay at MSU. I don't know the reason or reasons, but your saying that TG didn't have other opportunities and is stuck at MSU is just plain not true.

PR,
Not that I am doubting you, but this is the first I have heard of TG having the opportunity to go to Hawaii as DC. Is there any mention of this in any media outlets?

It's been on egriz for a couple weeks. Offers like that don't usually get into the media. They are private calls and conversations. Again, I am 100% certain, and don't care whether some of the yahoos believe it or not.

I think the reason TY doesn't get other jobs is pretty simple. Other coaches are smart enough to know the guy is not a good coach when it comes to scheme/Xs&Os.

That has more to do with it than his drunk vandalism stealing spree that happened in Colorado

I don't care what he did or didn't do in Colorado, TG and the rest of the losers east of the divide can go collectively f*ck themselves. Now lock this dumbass, derailed thread and let's move on.

What a joke. Ty is a superstar in most of your minds until he leaves. Now he is a shitty coach. Tools

bhumble, there is a flip side to that coin. Do a search for Ty Gregorak on BN and look at any thread prior to December of 2015 that has his name in it, and you will see Cats fans saying the Griz D isn't any good, that he is a dirty coach, that his teams showed no class, that his defenses were vanilla and overrated. I could go on, but I think you get the point. Fast forward to now, and in Bozeman, he's the best defensive coach ever, he is a master recruiter and the Cats are going to be the best defensive team in the Big Sky. Hell, one guy over there already annointed Balue Champman as the FCS Stats Defensive Player of the Year for 2020. You see where I'm going with this?

I thought he was a good coach, never heard anyone call him a superstar though and very, very few are saying he's "shitty". Saying he's a dickwad for going to msu is completely different.

I couldn't tell you. Visiting a bitter rival teams message board is something I never do. But then again, I don't have small penis/ lillbro syndrome so I do get why all you losers are posting on this board.

If you guys weren't talking about us so much, we wouldn't have to correct your information so much. :)

Cat fans on eGriz are like the kids that acted like they wanted to be 2P Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Everybody knows you don't want to be Luigi, guys. You don't have to keep acting like you like it. Just accept that you have to sit in the middle of the back seat with your feet on the hump, because that is where you will always sit. You had might as well embrace it.

The Princess was light years ahead of Luigi in SMB II, even Toad was a better character.

Poor Cats....er Luigi.

Uh, in a thread about what Gatorade players of the year went where and who were they, someone joked around that Balue would be the DPoY when talking about how they had done. You're reaching here Havre.

What did the father of the young lady say to his daughters boyfriend when he asked for her hand in marriage.....Havre. It was my middle school health teacher's favorite joke.

Speaking of GPoY's, how many years did Drinkwalter play for you guys? Did he see any playing time at WY?

Pretty sure nearly every Bobcat fan I talked to last year (no not Bobcatnation.com gentleman) had a lot of respect for the Griz D and how hard they play. I bragged about them a lot in the past few years. It is an exaggeration in that you guys think 20 guys on a website exemplify what the fan base thinks. Visa versa over here. Are we excited we got Balue? Heck ya! Did we dislike Gregorak? Hell ya! If I wanted to generalize, you guys were anointing Jesse Sims last year. This stuff is fun!

I do see where you're going with this as, once again, you've let your emotions get the better of you. Not a good trait for a sportswriter. You do a good job of being objective until someone says something griz-related that you don't share the same opinion on.

Just WOW! Pretty sure Cats fans for at least the last 3 years have wished for a defense and a coach that was at least as good as what the griz have had. And you seriously can't tell when someone is joking, that one was pretty obvious, but go ahead and construe to fit your agenda.
