The tradition-laden programs have met twice before, in the semifinals of the 2000 NCAA Division I-AA playoffs and the 2009 NCAA Division I Football Championship in Missoula, Mont. Montana won both games in nail-biting fashion, defeating the Mountaineers 19-16 in overtime in 2000 and turning the Apps away from the three yard line twice in the waning seconds of a 24-17 triumph in 2009. The 2009 thriller was televised live on ESPN and was the highest-rated FCS game ever according to data compiled by the Nielsen Company and the NCAA.

The 2007 semifinal versus Richmoind where we won 55-35 was also a night game.
Older fans will remember the night game in 1994 where we beat #1 Marshall under the lights.

Oh, you mean ASU has lights - and actually uses them ?!?! Last year UM spent in excess of a $ 1 million for state-of-the-art lighting - but we're holding off for a really, really big opportunity to use them bigger even than a football game. Our esteemed president is reportedly under negotiations with a figure eight racing promoter.

Tip, my understanding is that they will use the lights quite often...for practice flexibility during the week.

Honest question: Why does USD get any say in that? :?
