Funny...I don't remember North Carolina State acting this way when Russell Wilson transferred under the same conditions to Wisconsin...lacks class.

Just wait for an EWU fan to tell you how the situations differ when they materially identical.

Wasn't Russell Wilson playing minor league baseball and had already graduated from NC State before making his decision to go to Wisconsin? Didn't he skip spring football at NC State to play baseball thus the team was already moving on without him?

Just curious....

All parties in the Adams/EWU situation probably should have handled their reactions differently. Can't blame his teammates too much, especially when he is walking around campus sporting Duck gear...

Russell Wilson's coach at NC State told him to commit to the FB team rather than play minor league baseball. Wilson chose to play baseball anyway, knowing that he could just transfer to another team after he graduated.

In my opinion:
Totally fine, because dude was trying to find his best path.

In EWU fans', coaches', AD's, (and Ron Ash's) opinion:
Wilson turned his back on his teammates and the program that developed him, and we won't support him in the future.

Regarding the Duck gear, as I said in another thread, do you expect him to wear EWU gear after the way that school has treated him in the last month? Fuck that noise. EWU acted like a child in this situation long before Shoota wore Duck gear.

Go Seahawks?

It is what it is, I think EWU should have handled it differently, but I think the fact Eastern opens at Oregon makes it a little different. Not sure how much support they need to show him when he is QB 1 for your Week 1 opponent...

And definitely not Go Seahawks, they have more bandwagon fans over here lately than EWU does...

I don't think they need to show him any support. I just don't think they need to trash him and fuck with his property. That said, yours is a very reasonable post, as usual.

Agree about the Seahawks. Nauseating.

Pathetic move on their part. The AA part I mean. Obviously they don't want their first week opponent practicing with them though.

As Grizfnz has suggested, this means that the NC trophy and BSC trophies will become lawn mulch when Baldwin moves on for more money/opportunity. There's no way around that now.

Adams gave EWU four years. I doubt it was his decision to redshirt. That has to be on Baldwin, but you don't hear BB talking about that. A new risk emerges regarding redshirting. He doesn't get it both ways.

Oh, that is a great point. I suppose we cannot expect him or EWU fans to recognize that as part of the equation here.

Pretty good article, doesn't really paint a good picture for either side.

Rumors were circulating that Adams changed his major so he could graduate in time, I guess that has now been proven true

Kind of funny when a player finally gets the upper hand. All during the college career they are at the mercy of the coaches, the school, luck (good and bad), and get what they get -- which is often not very much. All the while they are expected to maintain a positive attitude and be a team player. On the VERY rare occasion a player manages to gain an advantage and that causes the entire system to turn on him. Pretty sad that everyone can't simply say "good for him" and move on. I guess a whole lot of people are just sore losers. Just what I would expect from Ewho.

What is interdisciplinary studies, 120 credits and you are outa here? The unsung hero here is whoever the academic advisor was that got Mr. Adams graduated.

I suspect that in addition to being dazzled by the Oregon uni's and locker rooms, he may have been dazzled by the Oregon 'talent'.

Marc,

Do you think it was a good move by VA? Will you be rooting for him to succeed?

Will I be rooting for him - Absolutely. He is an Eastern grad and a Big Sky player, absolutely want the best for him, just not in week 1 next year. Adams did a lot of good for EWU, a lot, so I hope he succeeds at Oregon and beyond. He took over a program that won the national championship and kept it at a national championship contender level. Brought great notoriety to the program.

Do I think it was a good move? Not sure it is, but I am a bit biased. Huge risk with what kind of reward? He could have broken tons of Big Sky and FCS records this year, gone down as one of the all time greats and still had a shot in the pro's. Pro Scouts already knew all about him before this move. Now he goes to a premier FBS school and has to win the starting job first, and then follow in the footsteps of a Heisman winner. I hope he does well, but there is a huge risk. If he really wanted to move on and prove he can play in the NFL, he should have gone to a team that has a more pro style offense. Oregon doesn't have the greatest track records of QB's with NFL success...

As a Griz fan I wished he would have stayed so we could have had another opportunity to beat him. I'm actually an Oregon fan which makes it doubly difficult. Given that type of opportunity, I don't know how you wouldn't take it. You would kick yourself for the rest of your life if you didn't. I agree with you about the risk of walking in there are winning the starting job. I think his odds of being the starting QB at the beginning of the season are less than 50%.

I'am with Pcat. Cleaned up the ole maroon glasses and can hardly wait for the end of August.
