Just two weeks left until the annual "interview" threads! They're the real March Madness for backwater conferences.

MT Jack said:Decuire did quite well in his first year. His plan definitely fooled the preseason writers and coaches polls.
I think the only coach truly working magic this year was Nick Robinson @ Southern Utah. SUU seems to be egriz's whipping boy but what Robinson did with what he had to work with is impressive.
A bit excessive on the indignation from a few fans, perhaps? It's a safe bet that Decuire is focused more on the UNC/NAU winner than not getting the Coach of the Year award.

There ya go! They didn't want to admit how terribly wrong they were in their pre-season coaches poll in predicting the Griz would finish in 8th place.
Either that or they are all getting tired of U of M's athletic success and couldn't stand to admit it again.
It's inconceivable!!!
Show em how wrong they are again, TCD!!!

Good point eagle. Geeze. I hope we can keep TD here for a few years. I know it's early, but three or four years like this, maybe with a couple signature wins, and he will be attracting attention.

We will never keep good coaches until we can pay good coaches. We will never be able to pay good coaches until we leave the BSC. Sure, there will be people who say that TDC "loves Montana" or "wants to coach his alma mater," but the truth is: anyone who wouldn't take a pay raise like Tinkle or Krysko took probably shouldn't be in the position to make important decisions in the first place.
We are currently a stepping stone.

Correct, that the coaches pick coach of the year. No wonder SS and EWU collapsed at the end and Weber had a horrible year. The Big Sky coaches aren't even smart enough to vote for the obvious coach of the year. This decision is almost a stunner.

Stunner?? It's par for the course in this rinky-dink, 9th rate conference. I wasn't surprised one bit TDC got hosed.
Let's not overlook a "Tinkle" glow here too. I know -- it's stupid -- but Tink doing unexpectedly well after moving on may have been a factor. The thought may have been: Okay, we messed up not seeing it to start with, but the new guy benefited from the well-coached players Tink left behind. He just coasted on that. We'll wait to see how he does, more on his own.grizonbob said:... I was just taking note of the same thing. The coaches did pick the Griz to finish 8th.
And the press release from the league said the coaches of the year were picked by their peers.
So maybe Gallatin Griz is right, they didn't want to acknowledge how badly they had miscalculated UM's ability, or they are jealous of the school's success.
Could be they just don't like honoring a "rookie" -- someone they don't think has paid their dues. We're talking about a lot of big egos, and many probably resent a young upstart coming in and showing them up.
Could be any number of other reasons, too.....
