Speaking of soccer, the former UM soccer coach has sued UM. See Missoulian.

Not going to look it up again but " why can't I take hookers back to my room, it's my personal time ".

You can take anyone you want back to your room, as long as you don't pay them for a service, no problem.

How dare the U of M publicly announce that I used their school phone to contact hookers and escorts while recruiting kids to my program. Now I’m mad and will sue.

Not to mention the number of girls in his team who approached Kent and said he made them uncomfortable with late night texts.

Is there any evidence that he paid anyone for anything? I believe the only evidence is that UM, i.e. Jean Gee, looked at the phone numbers in the phone/texts and determined that they were to escorts. I wonder how that determination was made.

If he had used a personal phone, would everything have been okay? I understand that UM probably woudn't have seen the phone numbers with a personal phone.

Does UM have a policy that a UM issued phone can't be used for personal use? Can't imagine that's the case. Edit: see policy in below post.

I see in a Kaimin article that he was using Tinder too, and supposedly matching with some younger women in Missoula. Looks like he was talked to about that, and stopped it.

"University employees may make limited use of University-provided telephones for essential personal business as long as such calls are not excessive and do not interfere with official University business. Examples of essential personal business include calls to family members (e.g., "latch-key" children), teachers, doctors, day-care centers, or babysitters to inform them of unexpected schedule changes." The Kaimin story doesn't say that, nor do I recall seeing it. Seemed very odd when you said it, that he would ever say or admit that. From Kaimin article:

"On Thursday, Haslam told the Missoula Independent that Plakorus had not resigned. His contract wasn’t renewed due to phone records that traced back to an escort service in Las Vegas. Some of the dates coincide with recruiting trips Plakorus had made to Las Vegas. Haslam said the investigation into inappropriate texting with student athletes led investigators to the texts sent to an escort service."

I found this quote in a Missoulian article. Says the opposite of what you had said.

"He denied using an escort service and said that he texted women in response to "personal ads."

In the old days, escorts mainly went out to dinner with people. I suppose it's not the old days anymore, especially in Las Vegas. I had a poker playing friend who lived in Las Vegas for decades. About 1980, he told us that every good-looking in Las Vegas was an escort. Obviously, an exaggeration to some degree.

This was my poker buddy's last big win before he died. From his wiki:

"At the 2006 World Series of Poker, Reese won the inaugural $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, taking home the $1,716,000 first prize when his A♣ Q♣ held up against Andy Bloch's 9♣ 8♠ in the final hand, on a board of J♠ 7♣ 7♠ 4♥ 4♠. This event was notable for having the largest buy-in (at the time) in WSOP history, as well as the longest heads-up battle with Reese and Bloch playing for seven hours and 286 hands. By comparison, the final table of the 2005 World Series of Poker Main Event lasted for a total of 232 hands."

Ignore the Missoulian. Go to 406mtsports.

Last paragraph kills it but hey nothing happened.

Good eyes/memory.

"When asked about the escort service days later, Plakorus said he went home with some of the women, and that it was his choice how he spent his personal time on recruiting trips. His mistake, he said, was using the university-issued cellphone to respond to personal ads, the Missoulian reported at the time."

I didn't realize that's how escort services work: "he went home with some of the women"
