Syracuse....

Yes, Lou, the Zags are overrated. They barely beat poor to mediocre teams, which allows one to sum them up in two words: paper tiger. They play down to the level of their opponents, and while they have the talent to play up with the powerhouses, all it will take is a tiny slip against someone who they underestimate, and they bow out in Round Two once again.

Averaged 13.3 points and 4.4 assists per game as a freshman starter at Syracuse, helping the Orangemen to a 2003 national title. Converted 53-of-55 free throw attempts in Big East play, establishing a league record with a .964 free-throw percentage. In all games, shot .909 (90-of-99) from the line, setting a Syracuse single-season record and ranking him eighth in the country in that category. Was a unanimous selection to the Big East All-Rookie Team and was also named to the All-Final Four Team. Posted 17.2 points, 3.8 assists and 1.7 steals as a sophomore. Won the Big East Conference free-throw percentage title for the second year in a row after making 53-of-57 (.930). Is one of five conference players to win the free-throw percentage title in back-to-back season. Earned first-team NABC and USBWA All-District II honors.

Set an Syracuse NCAA tournament career records for 3-pointers made (18) and attempted (44) during the Orangmen's six-game postseason title run. Six treys against Kansas (all in the first half) tied a school record for the NCAA tournament and his combined 15 steals established a new one. His 85 3-point field goals over the course of he entire campaign were second all-time in school history and his 238 attempts set a Syracuse record. As a sophomore, scored 28 points in the second-half en route to a pair of career highs -- 34 points and eight 3's vs. Charlotte. Bettered those totals against BYU in the NCAA Tournament, with 43 points and nine 3's - the highest totals by an SU player in the NCAA Tournament. Also converted a career-high 12-of-16 free throws. Registered 26 points against Boston College and Virginia Tech and 23 vs. St John's and at Miami. Toped 20 points 10 times, including two 30-point-or-better outings. Converted a 3-pointers in 29-of-31 games.

Big shots by McNamara helped Syracuse, the defending tournament champions, win its first two games this week. His 3-pointer with a half-second left beat Cincinnati 74-73 in the opening round Wednesday. In the next game against Connecticut, McNamara hit a 3 with 5.5 seconds remaining to send it to overtime, and the Orange won 86-84.

hit another big 3-pointer to get the Orange (22-11) within one with 52 seconds left, assisted on Eric Devendorf's go-ahead basket and caused a turnover with 1.5 seconds left in a 58-57 victory.

BIG EAST TOURNEY MVP

Yeah he's overated for sure.

Rooting for KU for many years, I hated Macnamara for his shooting in the title game against the Jayhawks. I would be willing to bet that most coaches around the country see the guy on TV and say that they wish they had a guy with that kind of heart playing for them. Reminds me of a Wojo from Duke.

Yeah just like the Zags. They just keep on winning so they are overrated.

Difference being that Mac and 'Cuse are actually playin somebody.

Stop argueing with this dude, he is never going to understand until Gonzaga flops again in the tournament. Just wait a week and he will be gone!

Swilly I know you are hoping and praying that the Zags will lose. I just don't understand why you hate them so much. They are a local team with a bunch of local players on the team. They have a real chance at going far in the tournament and you hate them. I just don't understand what your deal is. It's like you would rather root for an east coast team instead of the local ones. Why?

I believe the Zags are overrated and im going to stick with my opinion till proven otherwise. Adam morrison pisses me off as well and I really dont want to get on him. I dont like the way he plays the game and im sick of people calling him great. Hes a great scorer, dont get me wrong, but cmon! Great? Great players play defense, great players make other players around them better and I have watch him all year and I havent seen him do that yet. Then I hate the fact that all of sudden Gonzaga is equal or better than Duke or Uconn or Syracuse (list never ends) when they havent seen a final four apperence! Until Zag fans realize they are not the best team in the country, I will root against them.

I've never said that GU is better than or equal to any other teams in the country. I just think they are a good team and have a chance to do well in the tournament. And just because you don't like Morrison (leading scorer in the nation) you won't admit they are a good team.
By the way great scorers usually aren't great defenders, but Morrison isn't horrible on defense. He doesn't allow his man to score many points and he is a decent rebounder. So yes, he is a "great" player.
