Swagger under Stitt

According to Webster, swagger means to walk with a conceited or lordly swing or strut. Also, to boast or brag noisily. No, we don't want our student-athletes to have swagger, but confidence of winning.

Right. I wouldn't use that term, but Stitt did use it, and I think that's what people are responding to in this thread. I assume Stitt meant confidence more than conceit.

Speaking of Bobby, I definitely don't think a coach should have "swagger." Stitt sure as hell doesn't demonstrate that. Bobby was cocky, maybe even a tad arrogant, but what the hell, he recruited Trumaine Johnson, so he had that going for him. :|

I just hope the Cats come to HATE Stitt with with every ounce of themselves the way they did Bobby Hauck. It really was a beautiful thing. He flat out abused them... :lol:

TCCGriz and I discuss Swagger all the time. Loved the swagger of Haucks teams. Loved the swagger against the cats last fall when they marched out of the tunnel 3 abreast as opposed to just running out. They have that swagger on aug 29, we have a great shot!

The Griz will need to stop the run on August 29th. If they do, it'll help their swagger. They'll need to keep NDSU to under 200 yards rushing certainly if they expect a "W".

I agree. I am hoping that some sort of offensive output will keep the NDSU offense off the field instead of living on it like last year.

I think the UM fans are the most important factor in bringing swagger to the football program. Especially you plucky egrizzers. Maybe UM fans should enter the stadium holding hands and three abreast. Now that would be intimidating. :lol: :lol:

Delany was proud of the philosophy he instilled in his defense that they should avoid penalties in their style of play. This is a swagger killer. NDSU plays aggressively, pushing the limits until they get called. We used to have this philosophy years ago. It began to diminish in BHs later years, diminished more under Pflu and disappeared completely under Delany. We need teams to fear us, not prepare for us.

Agreed. NDSU O-linemen hold, trip, tackle, etc., until its called. Don't blame them for it either, its the way we were coached in high school: "holding is what the the refs say it is, not the rule book ".

This whole line of thinking is pure poppycock, plain and simple.

Yeah, because that lady was just enjoying a nice day at the beach and not posing for a picture to put it in the public domain for financial gain and to achieve the exact result that obtained here.
