Montana in the 2000s was a powerhouse. EWU, while not at Montana's level of dominance, was a powerhouse in the 2010s. Sac State was good in the early 2020s but no powerhouse lol.

All that article proves is Sac State is all smoke and mirrors. They’re nowhere on their stadium project and they have to pay for billboards just to hype up their recruiting class. Sad state of affairs.
1-7 conf record last year. Their only powerhouse years were the three Taylor years. Overall, they were more a BSC doormat than a powerhouse. Their 28 years in the BSC produced an overall conf record of 91-126, averaging 3.25 conf wins per season. 6 winning seasons in 28. Facts are stubborn things.

Delusional is the word that comes to mind. Trying to be fair, but how many “Powerhouse” football programs are there? In reality, not many. Especially in the west. This opinion is laughable at best. Also kind of sad. The desire to move up is strong, just not realistic or well thought out. I prefer to think of Sac State as the Little Engine That Could - in diapers.

That's it. That's the list. Honestly no other team even appears on the radar.
That is also still the list if you include the east side of the Mississippi.

The new coach and AD showed FCS teams the blueprint on how to attract the best recruiting class in the FCS, while pretending to move up. This article shows they had zero to back up the stadium hype, and were just taunting the Board into denying its move up request. If the recruits stick around I say job well done. Now if they hadn't jumped ship on the BCS they might have something of a "powerhouse" program for several years to come. Floundering as an independent will leave them, well, floundering in future recruitment.

And one of those wins was because they didn't shell out for enough camera angles to actually have a decent review opportunity. That just screams "FBS ready."
Sac State essentially just pulled the equivalent of the Fyre Festival to these recruits and its fan base.
If anyone hasn't seen it, you should absolutely watch the documentary on Netflix about Fyre Festival. That was more insane than I even realized.
Here we go! Sac State getting ready to sue. And of course they hired the biggest slime ball attorney out there.
I think they might have a decent shot at winning, too.
*in the courtroom; most certainly not on the fields and courts.
