Well as a student I apologize for this problem, but the students can't take the entire blame for this. The UM bball problem started when Griz football was getting big( DD 1995) and going to a football game was the thing to do.
This has been a wierd transition for me to watch I remember when I was little, a Griz bball night was for sure the best thing to do. I mean people were crammed into that orange south endzone where in the corners you could only see about half the court. But I think most people just can't focus on or can't afford two sports?
Because students stopped showing up for a couple of years is no reason to get rid of the east side student section, I mean nearly every school in the country gives students an entire lower side. Yes students 10 years ago completely stopped going, so lets just assume our program will never get back to that level and sell those to area businesses that never show up. That is just dumb planning by our Athletic Department.
The new student section is a joke and you can harldy tell what is going on, my friends and I usually just go sit in those die hard season ticket holders seats, where we can actually watch the game. I honestly don't know how this can be fixed unless UM starts to sell the Bball program like they do with football.
