Stitt-Choate Contrast

Couldn't make the game this week so watched it on the tube. When I saw the team come out to the band and fireworks and initially walk instead of run I knew we had lost already. After the first series the Cats outplayed us for 45 minutes. The 3 and outs, starting 0-6 on third downs were not the result of exceptional D play from the Cats but no execution from the Griz O. If I see that "T" formation where the running backs try to push the QB over the goal line more that once a season I'll put my season tickets on the block. Trick or gadget plays are designed to only work (fool) once. For whatever reason Brady didn't have it yesterday. What I did notice was the Cat secondary broke down fairly quickly which to me meant a mobile QB who could extend plays with his feet could have had a field day. This reminded me of when Kramer came in an beat us on better coaching and better execution from a team with inferior talent across the board.

BTW, the Cat pick on Brady was the same play and throw Chalich was picked two weeks ago. Great film study by the Cat defender. Marvels me how Brady didn't learn from film and key on that backer.

All in all Stitt needs to get back in touch with this team and their hearts or next year will be a disaster. 4 more schollies won't cure the last 3-4 weeks' let downs. We should have an O-line for a change so can't use that excuse.

On the bright side, anybody want to go hunting next weekend?
 
The way this team tanked this season... we are going to see this program struggle next season. Hard. It is clear from the product in the field that everyone is simply going through the motions. No fire, no enthusiasm, and with a few exceptions, no focus. The product on the field tells me that the players don't want to play for Stitt anymore. They compete, but the cohesion, the preparation, and the killer instinct are gone. Flat gone.

There needs to be a serious discussion at the highest level about the direction that this team is in. Either Stitt and Semore need to grow some humility and recognize that they are not God's gift to football and therefore needs to do some real work and prep, or they need to move on. 2017 will tell. If the problems continue (Stitt is enough of a narcissist to be wholly inflexible and not hear the lesson that his team is trying to teach), then he will need to be replaced. And replaced with someone with D1 experience, as Stitt has clearly shown he is over his head. My HS coach could out scheme him.

But will we see this? Engstrom and his puppet Haslam seem to have the ultimate goal of driving the football program into the dirt. If that's the case, they are doing a helluva job.

I couldn't agree more, ------and with Engstrom in charge things will only get worse! :(

He does follow some girls, just checked. Don't know how many and I don't know who they are but they're young (e.g. College age-ish). Oh, and he does follow Nick Lachey.
 
A major difference between the two is that Choate coached to his teams strengths. He knew if he employed a system that required his QB to throw, they would get beat. He adapted to what his team was good at, instead of blindly 'trusting the system'. Stitt could learn a thing or two from the overweight coaching staff out east.

Sounds like he's taking cues from our President-elect, who also blames everyone else for his mistakes, i.e, his recent $25,000,000 settlement for his Trump U scam.

After watching Stitt, Brady and Ryan's post game pressed, it's gotta be a red flag that Stitt cannot just say the buck stops with him and own it. This happened with Ash a couple years ago when he threw Denarius under the bus. That was the beginning of his end. Heck, Brady and Ryan both admit faults and what could have been done better. Stitt just keeps laying blame everywhere but on himself.

I am thoroughly impressed with Coach Stitt -- his innovation, recruiting 80 new players in since he took over, the fact that he has created cold fusion on the gridiron, he had the management will to get rid of a DC who clearly let the game pass him by, and promoting another innovative coach as DC because, as he put it -- “He coaches outside the box a little bit,” Stitt said. “He’s going to do what works rather than, ‘Oh, this is the way you’re supposed to do it.’”

Support your coach, trust the system and the process. Stitt deserves a 3-year extension to carry out his plan. All he needs is for the young guys to stop making stupid mistakes that cost them games. And a QB that is good enough to both understand and generate cold fusion. Remember, you were a 9-2 or 8-3 team this year! In 3 years, or maybe 5 or 7, Stitt will restore Montana to the real Montana, and you'll be winning National Championships again, just like CSM did.

Stay the course, griz nation, this gamble is courageous but will pay off in the end, if you persevere with Stitt-Pesci.
 
In his presser, Stitt mentioned he took over a very undisciplined team. That stuck out to me.
