get'em_griz said:Some of you are reading too much into this/making this too big of a deal. Should we have been an 8-3 team? Yes, as coach Stitt said, we were an 8-3 team. That doesn't make him delusional. We should have beat Northern Colorado, MSU, and probably even Cal Poly. But as Stitt said, we made too many mistakes that cost us those wins.
The result? We went from what we should have been (8-3) to a 6-5 football team. Most posters even predicted an 8-3 before the season. Now I'm disappointed in how this season turned out, but I really liked that Stitt is holding himself accountable for this season, which tells me that he is starting to understand and is willing to make the changes needed in him and his staff to make sure we win every game.
Described to me Wednesday morning as a "firestorm" within the Athletic Department and Engstrom's office. With the good idea to get rid of office phones, staff has been getting the phone calls, texts, and emails on their personal devices. At home. The commentary has been so bitter and continuous that Haslam's household has been in an uproar. I assume that must be true of other staff as well. From furious fans, boosters, donors and parents. "Nonstop." Recall, from the player and parent perspective, these are kids that were recruited by "promises." None were met.NorthwestFresh said:.... but when you have no booster support, nope. Next year needs to be a huge year for Coach Stitt and the Griz. Heard it from a few birds who would know...

Keep it classy folks. I began questioning this coach's capabilities and record 18 months ago across the broad range: 1) prior record, 2) bizarre game commentary, 3) player relations, 4) poorer D by a full touchdown over the "prior incumbent," and 5) a consistently dull and unresponsive offense. Even at that, I did not expect the worst possible outcome. But cripes, I'm not calling the staff up and yelling at them. Odd to me that the people that supported the guy are now trying to make life so personally miserable for staff. Write a letter. Yelling over the phone to somebody at home doesn't do any good for anybody.

This is a good "how to" and should be a primer for you boys just starting out that want to construct your own dramatic, histrionic and attention seeking post. Remember, if you want to get your readers attention, write with the emotion of a suicidal alcoholic calling the crisis line for the fouth time that day.

You are what your record is, we are a 6-5 football team PERIOD. I'm not on the fire Stitt immediately bandwagon but lets see if he can get everything cleaned up and see how next year goes.
Agreed Chief. You could also say we were a 4-7 team. Could've easily lost to Northern Iowa, who we barely scratched out 200 yards against, and we had a very easy conference schedule. Replace ISU or SSU with Weber or UND and there you have it. Schedule was really kind to us. Wins over St. Francis, which isn't good despite winning their conference, Miss. Valley, So. Utah, ISU and SSU.
Last year we got a miracle win over ISU and surprised NDSU. So were we a 5-6 team last year? No, we were 7-4 last year. We were 6-5 this year. 13-9 over two seasons. I can't remember having two seasons back to back as bad as that.
