Yes born and raised. Why would I ever root for my main rival to have success? Ohio State Fans don't root for Michigan. You think that season Auburn won the natty with Cam Newton Alabama fans were like "Hmmm good for Auburn it's nice to see our state represented well" HELLLLL NOOO. Get this soft attitude out of my face. Are you from Montana?
There's also the fact that MSU having success directly hurts UM. If they win a Natty they're going to be that much harder to recruit against. They get more attention from ESPN (you think gameday goes to Bozeman ten years ago when they were 5-6?) Them winning does nothing for UM football.I'm right there with you North.
I don't want to hear who you're a fan of every other day of the year.
I don't understand why that team wears an 'M' on their helmet, I don't care who they are trying to be.
We have always seemed to have an identity crisis coming from that side, but let's not ever forget, "The State University of Montana" is in Missoula. Anything that followed the one formerly known as Montana a&p is a forgery.
Because their math has always been off, we should remind our neighbors that 1984 was before 1995 and 2001. This is why, Griz Nation, if you are sending your kids off to school for engineering, Montana Tech is the better choice.
Fact, there isn't a single fact in your post. It's all based on speculation that can be countered with the same reason for having the opposite happen, whether they won in the past or us we're pretty even right now. There's also the fact that MSU having success directly hurts UM. There's a whole lot that you typed out here that has me scratching my head...Fact, there isn't a single fact in your post. It's all based on speculation that can be countered with the same reason for having the opposite happen, whether they won in the past or us we're pretty even right now.
We should let the season play out before we start handing out trophies. I fully expect that we will be there in the end before they will, but that, once again, is speculation.
If what you're saying is true, they win and never look back we're left with Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Utah Tech, Central Washington and Western Oregon. Why then after 1995 and 2001 are they a competitive team. Weren't we supposed to have Tommy Mellott?![]()

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."Fact, there isn't a single fact in your post. Wow, how original. You should write for Adam Sandler or something. Maybe not."What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. THIS!! (with slight adjustment to the cats name)and get it right, it's Griz-scat, if you don't call it that, your loyalty is in question with me.
The streak ended 24 years ago. None of the kids playing for either team were even alive when that happened. The 18-22 year olds don't care what happened when their fathers were watching. They care about recent history. One in which the Cats have equaled and if we're being honest probably surpassed the Grizzlies as a program.16 straight wins
Sir, I get your point. I just don't believe after every game I have seen when it ends in a Griz win someone inevitably gets up to head to the urinal and says "Welp, that's big for recruiting," that it is all that 'big' at all.The streak ended 24 years ago. I feel like you're missing my entire point which was that I'm not going to root for the Cats ever. Not only because I hate them. But because it 100% affects the Grizzly football program to have them be successful. You honestly can't even argue that fact in good faith. If you're the kinda fan that wants to watch our rival hoist a trophy and win conference championships good for you. Won't be me.
Were you raised in a scat house?I call it Cat/Griz. Guess my loyalty is in question.
This seems more realistic than the Coaches Poll.

I would talk shit back, but āThe North Remembersā is the second raddest name on here behind only the great Tony Clifton.Yes born and raised. Why would I ever root for my main rival to have success? Totally agree EG. The Montana thing is definitely pretty unique when you compare it to other rivalries in other states.Does it matter?
Do Auburn fans/alumni root for Alabama just because they're from Alabama? Think Beaver fans want Oregon to win a national title for the home state? North Carolina fans want Duke to win an ncaa basketball title to bring a trophy home to North Carolina?
This whole "but they're from Montana so I gotta root for em" thing is just so bizarre. Sorry, I will root for individuals on msu's programs because I have some relationship to them. But if the university wins so much as win one game/match in any sport in the next 100 year, it'll be too soon.
You're one of the good ones ILTCTotally agree EG. The Montana thing is definitely pretty unique when you compare it to other rivalries in other states.
For me itās pretty easy. Itās sports and itās entertainment. I wonāt cheer for the griz in any game ever. Especially not in a championship game. The worst possible thing for Montana State athletics is the Griz winning a national championship. And vice versa.
That said, Iāve always maintained fans get a little wild when it comes to this rivalry. I have many friends who are griz fans and boosters. I have a healthy respect for UM athletics. I have no issue being realistic and saying when I think theyāll be really good. I donāt love it mind you, but the fact of the matter is griz football is almost always going to be good or very good. I think theyāll be a very good team this year and I think your schedule is very favorable this year and youāll be in a position of a top seed. Recent history says that hosting the brawl this year will be very important. Iāll always think the cats have a shot to win; but Iād be very confident if I was a griz fan. Nothing wrong with that.
Long story short, Iāll always give my griz friends shit and will never pull for them in a game ever. But Iāll be in Missoula again this year like I am most years and Iāll have a great time like I always do. And if I see a griz fan with car trouble on my way to Missoula, Iāll be the first to pull over and assist because Iām not a douche and there are bigger things than football. But the idea that I should cheer for Montana teams cause theyāre Montana teams is so backwards to me!
I do secretly support Montana kids getting a shot at the next level though. But that is more an FCS thing than a Montana thing. I wouldnāt mind at all seeing JB kill it with the Niners and show there is good talent at the FCS level.
