Starting QB?

don't count mckinney out yet. he got caught up in a bad season with a new staff and the injury to moore didn't help. trent actually had better numbers than j.j. when you compare their first seven starts which is all trent got. trent's qb rating was 129.5 to j.j.'s 112.3. j.j. also gets hurt often. he missed a game with a shoulder injury and has been battling a hammy all spring.

If JJ is healthy and plays as well as we have seen him play but is #2 because someone else is playing better, that is a good thing. I suspect JJ will be taking snaps, but fall is a ways off and we need to wait to see who is dinged and who is the mover.

According to Catmayor; neither can throw the ball. Check the tape dude!

I think Jordy's got a lot of intangibles working in his favor--leadership, confidence and general feel for the game. Not saying the other guys won't have it too--just that it's more developed in JJ at this point. Plus, I suspect he's going to be playing with a chip on his shoulder and a lot of determination. That's a guy I want on the field.

I have been getting "reports" from practices saying JJ is looking very, very, good.

IT sure would be nice to have someone be able to give us those reports this year. Damn coaching staff.
I do understand and respect why they are doing what they are doing though. :thumb:

I pray that turns out to be the case. I hope our QB's overall are looking good and improving.

My first read is always the tight end, but I am not scared to check down to the tackle eligible..

trent threw 192 passes in those games to 186 for jj. still laughing?

in games vs common opponents in 2011 mcghee had a rating of 158.1 to 137.8 for jj.

The biggest difference between Trent and JJ, IMO, was JJ continued to grow in his first full year as a starter. He got better with each game and really turned the corner with the Weber game. Trent didn't seem to progress and then didn't get the opportunity. I really wish he would've kept the job over SSH just to have a full season to see what he could do. Also, JJ had a great defense supporting him. Trent had an average defense. I still think Trent could be a good FCS QB if given the opportunity, as long as he continues to grow. I just think JJ can be a little better and JJ deserves the job.

I think the people (not you BDiz) who are laughing or joking at the suggestion that McKinney can't do well in this offense are off-base. Trent didn't look bad in the scrimmage, he's mobile and and made the best decisions of the QBs that day.

I agree with you that I wish he would have continued and yeah he didn't show that ongoing improvement that we saw in 2011 with JJ - seemed to just kind of stay the same.

With any sort of system where the team needs a mobile QB you've got to have 2 guys that can run the offense. I, for one, am darn glad Trent is on this team and so far this spring has shown good improvement and maturity on the field.
