Just trying to take some guess as to how this lineup is going to shake out,, just being reactionary to the Witworth scrim it looks like the guys who came in at least Egun is and Mack are going to be more formidable than the end of the 2-3 bench guys that transferred out.
SG: Ogi/ Manual (if he plays this year) PG: Rorie / Falls SG: Dorsey/ Moorhead
PF: Pridgett / Miller C: Akoh / Kramer
Bench: Egun and Anderson
End of Bench: Anderson C/PF, Brown SG, Carter C, and Jones (Team feel good cheerleader guy)...In that order for playing time.
Last year was a true 7 man rotation with Falls and Pridgett, maybe 8 man if you count Nicholas as being in rotation, but this year with Dorsey taking Kriz's spot its for sure 7 man again but if Kramer and Miller are legit and Manuel plays we'll be 10 deep with a promising end of the bench Frosh guard (Brown III) and whatever Carter and Mack Anderson can be.
Better depth will certainly help, but the two biggest limiters from last year were our lack of size, so when we went up against a real 6'10-7' guy he didn't push us around physically but he would just have to much free airspace to shoot over our guys and on the offensive end our ground bound guys could back in but couldn't get the ball over anybody.
The other big problem is that our 3pt shooting was so bad, so that we became one dimensional, great dibble drive team but crowd the middle and we couldn't shoot over people inside or outside. This meant that although we were the better team most game teams because our O was only going to grind out about 65pt every game was going to be close down the stretch. There were a few games where we hit three's in those games we blew the doors of people.
All of which is to say I think this team can address a few needs: 1. More depth to stay fresh because of our physical D style and physical dribble drive O style. 2: Kramer at 6'10 give more low post defensive size just to get at least a hand up against true bigs. 3: Legit game to game 3pt shooting...Ogi emerged real 3pt Threat plus Dorsey, plus maybe Brown III as a sharp shooter
Still Lacking probably: Some low post scoring size and I don't think our 3pt shooting will be any worse but solid chance its about the same.
Final takeaways...I think for sure we will have more depth which will only help our grindy formula, and if we can just add one dimension to our O so that when teams clog the lane to stop dibble drive we can shoot over outside or down low this could be really special team!! Go Griz #Basketball School
O and if we could add a sold out loud home environment that would be huge to...to often some games seem like parents and family in the stands plus some people who dont really care if griz win or lose cause they dont know much about the basketball program they are just there to support the University
