Rebuilding from 6th place in conference (4-4) and one of the most embarrassing a$$ kickings in rivalry history!

And even then that was a one point game in the third quarter and that was after a first half where we probably should have been leading. A holding penalty wiped out O'Connell's fumble recovery which would have given us the ball at NDSU's 35 and a scoop and score fumble recovery by the Bison right before half time.Griz Addict said:BigGameBobby said:Rebuilding from 6th place in conference (4-4) and one of the most embarrassing a$$ kickings in rivalry history!
Not having a decent back up qb costed us 2 of those games. Ref won the Sac game even with the incapable backup... it'd be a different story if the griz got rolled in all those games but, the fact is they were in every game and could have easily won if a couple things went their way. The only games the griz looked like the less talented team was against MSU(as much as I hate to say it) and NDSU

I agree with that.

While the result was a loss, at least we never experienced 16 In A Row!!

I agree. I think the coaches thought that they had a good backup in Brown. He didn't improve from the prior year, and probably went backwards. I'm still hoping he can step it up. Beating Sac and Weber would have been big for the rest of the season too. I don't see this year as a rebuilding year at all, except a very good qb needs to emerge. It will be interesting to see what the new coordinators do, along with a couple new coaches and coaches in new spots. This should energize the coaching.

A very good starting QB and good back-up QB need to emerge. Griz must solve the +1 running schemes on defense, and the Griz offense must figure out how to stay on the field...improve 3rd down efficiency and increase TOP. The latter of which is crucial if sticking with the 3-3-5.
I also don't understand why coaching at the D1 level would need to be energized. Why?

Ya, I wouldn’t be very excited as a fan if the savior head coach that came back and promised RTD, beating the Cats, etc…. took five years and got all his players, coaches, schemes, in place while the fan base patiently waited, and then had to completely revamp the entire coaching staff and schemes on both offense and defense after five years.

I didn't say it "needed" to be energized. I said I thought it "should" energize the coaching. In any business or other organization I've been involved with, new leadership, new people, and new positions, almost always energize the group/team. Perhaps that is not true in the military, which is more staid and rigid. In my experience, these new things often create some new dynamics. Energizing doesn't always improve things, but it can. Focusing on the 2 new coordinators, I can't imagine that they are not excited and energized to institute new things and their ideas.
UM had good overall 3d down efficiency. 2d in conference. 15th in nation. 46%. Sac had 48%. Yes, improvement is always good.

Oh not at all. I’ve always stuck with my team through thick and thin, and trust me, there have been dark times. Yes, there have been coaching staffs that I was disappointed in (ie not excited about). Nothing wrong with disliking the direction of a program under a certain coach, and even advocating for a new coach. Doesn’t make me a bad fan.
