Depends on which Griz team shows up, AND the quality of the coaching. Both are very suspect, as evidenced by the Northern Colorado game. On a consistency basis, they are a passing team, and we have one of, if not the worse secondary in the conference. If Sorenson has time, they go home with a Griz rug. I don't think the defense will give him much time, however. Griz by 10.

I keep seeing this...and it's just patently NOT true. There are any NUMBER of statistics on the BSC website to refute the notion that our pass defense is the "worst in the conference".

Montana is 8th in pass defense (based on yards per game). Idaho State, Cal Poly, Northern Colorado, Sac State and Portland State ALL give up more yards per game than Montana. Yes, the same Cal Poly that's 5-0 and sitting atop the conference standings.

8 teams give up more yards per completion than Montana.
7 teams give up a higher completion percentage than Montana.
0 teams have more interceptions than Montana.
7 teams have a worse defensive pass efficiency rating than Montana (INCLUDING SUU, by the way)

The #1 rated pass defense in the league (UND) has given up more TD's (8) than Montana (7) but have had just slightly more than HALF the pass attempts against them (65 vs 107).

Sure, our defensive backfield is our PERCEIVED liability, and that's why it's targeted more...but in reality they've performed fairly well given that they are being attacked relentlessly.

The fact that they are being attacked relentlessly tells you opposing teams see them as the UM weakness.

I'll follow that up with a little more clairty. The safeties are clearly being picked on the most, followed by the linebackers and corners.

I have to give props to Tulley at NC, he finally played the deep ball well--actually looked like he knew what he was doing back there.

Last week I picked against our Griz to win and they proved me wrong!
If I have to pick against them to win so be it.

I still worry about how the O performs. Its kind of hit and miss and that slow start last week was scary. I see TMAC throwing two int that turn into 14 points for SUU.
Griz shocked for second time at home this year. I hope I am wrong.
