Southern Utah @ Montana predictions

This game will be determined by t/o margin and whether or not the Griz can control the game with their running attack. If the Griz "melt down" and are +2 in turnovers, they could loose. Sorenson will get his yards
against our weak secondary.

Personally, I think we're gonna' get rolled in this one...

I keep reading your posts and initially I get pissed, then I laugh and after watching the games I cry. I hope to hell your superstition or reverse witch craft works because I need a BIG ass win to make me feel better. Griz 44 SUU 18.

Depends on which Griz team shows up, AND the quality of the coaching. Both are very suspect, as evidenced by the Northern Colorado game. On a consistency basis, they are a passing team, and we have one of, if not the worse secondary in the conference. If Sorenson has time, they go home with a Griz rug. I don't think the defense will give him much time, however. Griz by 10.

I keep seeing this...and it's just patently NOT true. There are any NUMBER of statistics on the BSC website to refute the notion that our pass defense is the "worst in the conference".

Montana is 8th in pass defense (based on yards per game). Idaho State, Cal Poly, Northern Colorado, Sac State and Portland State ALL give up more yards per game than Montana. Yes, the same Cal Poly that's 5-0 and sitting atop the conference standings.

8 teams give up more yards per completion than Montana.
7 teams give up a higher completion percentage than Montana.
0 teams have more interceptions than Montana.
7 teams have a worse defensive pass efficiency rating than Montana (INCLUDING SUU, by the way)

The #1 rated pass defense in the league (UND) has given up more TD's (8) than Montana (7) but have had just slightly more than HALF the pass attempts against them (65 vs 107).

Sure, our defensive backfield is our PERCEIVED liability, and that's why it's targeted more...but in reality they've performed fairly well given that they are being attacked relentlessly.

YOUR UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA GRIZZLIES - 30
(Missed extra point to add a little fear, but southern utah scores a late meaningless touchdown.)
them - 28

or if Griz play a complete game, then

YOUR UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA GRIZZLIES - 44
them - 14

Like everyone is saying, it is time to start putting things together. This is a very talented team, one which could have won any of the 3 games we lost. I believe in this talent and think 2 games away from Washington-Griz actually helped this team. Now that they are back home, a new home unbeaten streak can begin. It will be another frustrating game, but I believe the Griz will pull this one out.

The offense keeps getting better every week ... and just as important, we win the turnover battle for the second game in a row.

SUU is tied for 3rd nationally at +1.67 per game. UM is tied for 88th at -.67.

This should be a great game, and despite the turnovers, I expect UM to pull it out.
