Injury Update. Nielson told reporters that it was a coin flip on whether Alex Jensen would be able to play this week at Montana. Jensen had started all 28 games over the last three seasons. Nielson also said Joey Lombard's and Jakari Starling's status were still to be determined.
armonte said:Appeared two of SD starting linebackers and starting DL went down with injuries and I believe a RB but not sure, serious or not I don't know.
Just an observation when watching the replay. They are a much better team than last opponent .
Mavman said:Watching some highlights their QB looked pretty gunshy after getting hit a few times. Their RB looks tough and shifty, and their Dbs could make some plays they seem to be in the right place.

Secondary was their best position group in the game. Hard to tell if it is because they are truly good, or K-State didn't need to test them based on what they were doing on the ground...
Badlands, I think you might have been watching some of their LB's. They play a 3-3-5 and the guy who wears "0" often lined up like a rush end, sort of like Patrick O'Connell does for us. The seven guys who played D-line against KSU combined for a total of 3.5 tackles including 1 sack.BadlandsGrizFan said:SoldierGriz said:Secondary was their best position group in the game. I think their defensive line is their best group. They have a stud at DE and the guys in the middle have good size and play tough.

D-lines are judged by more than production. Did they get moved off the ball? Did they make mistakes?

Bobby said they looked stout and that K state was not moving them off the ball well.

Why are you trying to compare the 3 Griz starters to the entire Coyote's DL unit. Is that so the numbers look better for your case? Let's go apples to apples, and I'll use your numbers.mthoopsfan said:SaskGriz said:Badlands, I think you might have been watching some of their LB's. By contrast, the UM starting d-line combined for 1 solo tackles, 8 assists, and 2.5 sacks. So, a total of 9 tackles.
The USD official stats show that their 6 guys on this week's two-deep had 8 tackles and 1 sack. Assists are not .5 tackles in football stats; they are counted as 1 tackle.

Last week ALL SD DL: 8 tackles, 1 TFL which was a sack ALL GRIZ DL: 17 tackles, 3.5 TFL of which two were sacks.
