That's a great question. Losing to a bottom MV team is embarrassing and affects the entire conference come playoff time (for teams that make the playoffs). Getting your ass handed to you by a Big 12 team? Not so much.

And I wonder how many of these blowhards would be willing to place a wager on who gets throttled worse in their play up game.

Are TTech and Oregon considered to be equals this year? I thought Oregon was ranked fairly high.

UNC game - lots of swing passes with the UNC DB's getting their feet cut out. You can see the skill the USD QB has running the ball and throwing it too, this guy's the real deal. UNC's tackling is... well... as we normally expect haha. The USD D-end, #44 is their big pass rush threat, he makes the highlight reel a few times.

WIU game - some zone-read, some RPO, using their big TE as a 1-on-1 in the endzone, even an option pitch, interesting...

Here's the Weber game - pretty limited highlights but Weber's talented front line seemed time and time again to not allow Simmonds to step up in the pocket, they'd keep the middle bunched up and that appeared to lead to a lot of errors. Also recall USD's punt coverage last year was a little suspect, that shows here. Ugh that train horn of Webers.

I like the train horn, it's a symbol of Ogden's history as a railroad town. I would prefer a canon but the horn is the next best thing.

As a Texas Tech season ticket holder, I can assure you this year's team is not "its worst team in years". That would be the LAST two years (including the one where they absolutely destroyed EWU). THIS year's team will be much improved and will still blow the doors off teams offensively. Just better defensively--something KK never bothered to focus on.

The Griz-Oregon score will be much, much more lopsided. The two programs approach these “play up” games much differently.

Sumlin should have been fired Sunday morning (coming from someone who laid the points in that Hawaii game). Honestly the Tech trash talk was mostly hyperbole. The main point being Tech stinks compared to Oregon so looking at the results of those two games is a false comparison.

And my talk of an improved Tech was NOT hyperbole. Wells has brought in a vastly improved conditioning system, as well as a focus on D never seen in KK’s time here. This ain’t KK’s Tech team anymore. They WILL be improved....
